CAT Scanned

Been busy for the last few days, so I didn't get to mention this...

I've been missing 2-3 days per week of school due to severe migraines. It's been happening for almost a year now, and almost nothing has helped, so my doctor decided to give me a CAT scan as a last-ditch effort to find the source of the problem... So they pumped me full of Iodine, stuck me in the ring, and I'm waiting for them to call me and confirm that my migraines are caused by a giant, malignant tumor, and that my brain is being pushed out my left ear by the pressure. Or... y'know, the other, 99% chance, that there's nothing there but brain. (Mmm, set myself up for a fall there) :)

    Murphy's law! :D

    Kidding ;-)

Best of luck on that! Not to throw another thing into your head, though, but cysts could be a problem. My mother currently has a cyst in her brain which is believed to be causing trouble with temperature sensitivity in her face and mouth (resulting in either insensitivity or extreme sensitivity to temperatures, depending on the area.

My gut feeling is you'll come out allright. Best wishes to you!
  • have you seen a chiropractor about this?

Yea, I'm serious. I suffered from MASSIVE migrains until about the age of 18. the only thing that cured them was a visit to the chiropractor. There is a specific nerve along the neck that can be adjusted, often refered to as the "headach nerve" It's definately worth a try

After massive quantities of medicine ended up doing nothing but making me sick to my stomach, my doctor tried sending me to a physical therapist, and he said the same thing about adjusting a nerve; it seemed to help a little, but in retrospect, probably only because I really wanted it to... :(

My grades are suffering quite a bit right now (as in, I'm borderline failing 3 of 4 classes because of tests and homework that I have 3 days to make up before finals and the end of the semester), and I'm somehow managing to only get a D in Literature of the Fantastic, which combines my three strengths (reading, writing, and understanding good literature :)), despite the fact that I am a child prodigy on the same leve as Ender Wiggin. :)

Nah... I think you're just Wiggin out...

    ;)
  • physical therapist does not equal chiropracter...

a chiropractor SHOULD adjust the entire spinal coulumn, not just the part that hurts.

    That's right.

I myself have headaches hardly ever, but I know what it feels. Twelve to fourteen years ago I had one pretty bad. I wasn't able to do anything, so I did take painkillers and went to lie down, guess I sleeped because next thing I remember was that when I checked watch it was over five hours later.
Today I have headache when I have higher fewer. It feels like some hoop would be squeesing my head.

So let's hope you get better soon.
  • Lord RefaLord Refa Creepy, but in a good way
I had a mild/bad headache for the past three days, kept eating couple of different types of pain killers and I was hoping that I'd have a tumor or something, but it seems to have gone now. Oh well.
  • I'm surprised it took this long for Refa to post here... ;)
  • heh, the migrains I got would quite literally put me on the floor writhing in pain as a child.

they were NO fun, hurt to open my eyes, hurt to move...etc etc
  • C_MonC_Mon A Genuine Sucker
I've only once had a really bad migrain at it was because of to much Nintendo 8-bit playing.

Same here. I blame the sun, because I was out most of the time.

That might have been the reason for that bad headache I told. Before it I had been on car where sun shined directly to me.
(but I have never got headache by being out, even six, eight hours outside haven't caused it)

When I was young I had bad migraine all the time. Then they took out parts of my jaw, and now I hardly ever have migraine.
