Don't worry, I watched 3+4 last night as well, bloody fantastic!
I was a bit gutted that Guld died, he was by far my favorite character, and I have a couple of questions as well;
What was the Macross? It looked like a "Titan" from Warhammer 40K turned into some kind of monument/HQ for the UN back on Earth. (Just wondering)
Lastly, Did Sharon Apple's creator WANT her to take over the Maross using her new AI or was that an unforseen side-effect of the chip and her unstable personality?
In all, Macross wasn't what I expected, but neither was Akira, another Anime masterpiece that ranks as one of my favorites. It was quite a trip, and I'm really glas I bought it. :)

Well, before I get jumped on by whatever fanboys are here, I'm only saying this because it's so much easier to get than the original japanese version, so...
Ever seen or hear of "Robotech" ?
Biggles<font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
/me jumps on WHY and beats him senseless before gagging him.
Forget Robotech, that bleached and rinsed reworking of the original masterpiece. What you want to see is Superdimensional Fortress Macross (top middle of this picture, large version). That will explain everything to you. But the basic details are (this won't spoil anything) that the Macross is a space fortress capable of transforming between a ship-shaped thing and a really fucking big giant robot (with one hell of a huge gun, I might add). I really highly recommend Macross. It seems a bit cheesy and dated at first, but as you watch you realise how good it really is.
As for Robotech, that was some guy in the US taking Macross and 2 other series (Genesis Climber Mospeada and Southern Cross), re-editing them and writing his own dialog (to be recorded in english, naturally), and calling it the Robotech saga.

LOL! My mate lent my Dominion Tank Police a few months back, f*cking HILARIOUS! :D
I might try and, um, "alter" my DVD player to be multi region so I can get the US and other discs of the original Macross, if it's so highly recommended.

Mine are region 1, but I'm fairly sure it's also available in region 4.
Biggles<font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
Well. It greatly depends on what you're interested in. If you want to think a lot, it's good. If all you're interested in is things like cool action, you might not like it so much.
well, to be honest, it's "cool action" for the first half of the series, then mainly "thinky/disturbing" with quite a bit of action thrown in afterwards...
Biggles<font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
The thinking/disturbing/completely-fucking-with-your-mind stuff in the 2nd half of the series is fun. :) None of my friends could handle it though, they didn't like having to think while watching something.
If you're looking for something good to watch, I highly recommend Cowboy Bebop. Outlaw Star is quite good from an action point of view too, with a good story to go with it. If you like fantasy, Record of Lodoss War is great.

Mind you, this is advice coming from someone who regularly watches entire 26 episode series without leaving his seat.

What about Patlabor? I remember seeing an episode of it late night on channel four when they had a season of Anime/Manga, and I quite liked it.

Patlabor is pretty cool.
Of course it's on DVD. Those three boxes in that picture contain 3 DVDs each. :)

Yarr, but what REGION? ;)
I'm getting a DVD player soon, and it'd be cool to get the DVDs themselves on Region 2. (UK)
