I really hope they can pull this thing off. So I'm one of those who will not take the original series into account and just try to keep an open mind :robot:
BigglesThe Man Without a Face
I think if they hadn't specifically tried to fill it with sex, it might have.

And that is the ONLY reason I have any hope for what they are doing. IMO DS9 was the best Trek, with a few notable exceptions. (How can you go wrong having Hawk there laying the smack down as the commanda!)
I caught them re-using cg shots of Cylon fighters! (Think: why do the cylons always seem to attack in pairs?) It's the same as the last series! Nothing's changed! The effects are still underfunded! If/when it goes into a series, the same battle will be fought over and over and over and over and over....
Okay, other than that rant, and the unnecessary sex scenes, liking it so far.

Also, there is a stain on the Viper's windshield in the same place when it goes through the launch tube.......:)
So far so good......Now, back to the Rams game....:)
First: My opinions are subject to change as the story progresses.
Second: Pardon my language, What the FUCK is with the freaking Shakey-cam. It's really annoying me. It is now that I wish I had my this old piece of software to digitally stabilize images at the cost of resolution.
Third: Nothing's sticking. The entire show thus far has so much of this "forced" drama, and very little seems to fit with me. It's just feeling too artificial. i.e. It's almost like I'm supposed to be feeling what the writer wants me to, rather than what I would naturally feel.
P.S.: the guy who looks like John McCain is just too damn similar, at least in looks alone. It creeps me out as a McCain fan

The whole shooting style was taken from Saving Private Ryan (and I forget the other movie). They wanted the movie to be sort of a documentary style. That came from the "Making Of" show that aired a few days ago. Overall, I like it, but some of the "shaking" during certain parts was uncalled for.
Remember, this is JUST the first episode. They'll fix all the little problems.

Black Hawk Down
And who did they get to do the music? It sounds like Evan Chen. If only the music in the series was half as good as the commercials that advertise it...

Shakey cam doesn't make for a documentary style as much as it is a distraction. It makes it seem amaturish if too much is used. Perhaps here or there, it'll be fine, but in order to have shakeycam be effective, one must film it like a real documentary photographer would. My problem is very much in that it's filmed like a traditional movie, but with documentary styles.
