Just out of curiosity... what other message boards do you frequent, whether as an active poster or lurker?

They don't have to be scifi related, anything will do. :)

I'll go first... the most frequently visited message board (lately) for me has been http://www.howardforums.com

I've learned some interesting things from it, and managed to download some games for my cell phone.

Thanks for the responses so far. It would make it a little easier to follow if a little description is added to each site (similar to JackN's)

Just realized I didn't do it for my original post, so here it is...

I go to spacebattles.com

I remember once I got really argumentative here, and people were like "dude, chill out." Then I was all "sorry, I've just been at spacebattles for a really long time before coming back." And then someone responded with something along the lines of "Oh. yeah that place sucks." Not so much words similar to those as it was the idea behind it.

Hmmm, looks like I'm a bit different.

Four-eyed stangs rule! Too bad they had so many weak engines in them, as well...

I used to regular www.hardforums.com (for the car and photography forums), but the people in the car forum got to me, so I started hanging out in #CarTalk on Slashnet. I still lurk in the photography forum.

Back in the day, there was also a thing with General Mayhem, but it eventually hit me that it's the same folks from Hardforums, just under a different label.

Every so often, I also start lurking about the Lincoln Mark Viii forums, but that's not to common.

There's always the Brick Boards for when I have a volvo around. Great place to find anything about everything for a volvo. Don't quite post that often, but I do lurk on a semi-regular basis. Depending on what I seek, though, I'll also check out SwedeSpeed and Turbo Bricks.

I wouldn't say the engines were weak just underpowered or misunderstood. The 2.3 turbo found in the SVO is one of the more durable 4 cylinders ford ever made. There are guys out there make 400 hp on a stock bottem end and without spending an arm and a leg to do it.

Mk VIIIs are cool, but personally I prefer the Mk VII, I still think that is one of the coolest cars ford ever produced. Nice balanve of aerodynamics and hard lines, plus with the 5.0 HO.

Sorry. I should have been a bit more clear. That's more or less what I was saying. By weak, I did not mean bad, just not fit for the car they were trying to push.

And the SVO...that's just legendary. Too bad there are so few of them out there...

Oh, those are always beautiful. The 1991 Black/Black LSC is one of my all-time favorite cars, although the seats on the older models are beyond lazy boy comfort levels. For a while now, I've had the 90's models in my eye, but they're always just a bit too much for the wallet. :D

The fun part about the Mark Viii's is that they are devaluing faster than any other car on the planet, so if I give it a few years, someone will probably pay me to take theirs. ;)
• You post at JK2F, A#? I used to moderate there, until I started getting 1000+ emails per hour... Now I mainly [don't actually] do odd jobs for Half-Life Files, and I might get appointed as PR guy or something... and I believe just being affiliated with a large gaming website means you can go to E3, because a whole ton of Gaming Files staff members go every year. :D

Yah, for the same reason I thought about finding one of those for my wife to drive, I think she'd like the luxo part and I'd like the V-8 part, though I'm not a huge fan of the modular engines (like the old 5.0 better).

These are more news-like than forums, but what the heck... people can and do have message board-like discussions in the story comments.

www.slashdot.org (news for nerds, stuff that matters)
www.plastic.com (/. -like but no tech and more community, higher signal to noise ratio in comments)
www.kuro5hin.org (more geek news)
bsd.slashdot.org (/. BSD news)

I am much more a lurker at those than here, however.

The 4.6 is still a great engine.
Upgrade the intake, the exhaust, and give it a set of 4.10's, and you've got a car that'll wax the floor with LT1's...

Plus, the fact that any Cobra parts are a bolt-on is insanely cool :D
