Puny Humans! Welcome to Interstellar Space! (Possibly!)

BigglesBiggles <font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
Voyager 1 is getting close to becoming or has recently become the first manmade interstellar spacecraft, depending on which argument you believe. Go Voyager! They don't make them like that anymore!
Various news sites are carrying the story, so those of you not living under a rock have probably already heard it. For the rest, check out the NASA article. In fact, you can all check it out for the supremely awesome Hubble picture of a bow shock.

  • Its amazing really. According to this article at space.com , we could be communicating with voyager for another 15 years.

Yep, quite impressive. I bet the original designers didn't expect either of the probes to get this far while still operational.

  • RubberEagleRubberEagle What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?

Better hope it doesn't accidentally collide with an alien ship and kill their religious leader.
  • Hey, come on now guys.... I was SERIOUS! Don't you remember Star Trek 5? The Klingons were so bored, they didn't know what to do with themselves - So they had a little "target practice" on the Earth probe! heh :D

    Yes I remember that scene.
Lets hope NASA doesn't forget its out there and start picking up its transmissions and think its aliens trying to communicate.
