La Blue Girl live action (R18 - PG-13)
Lord Refa
Creepy, but in a good way
in Zocalo v2.0
Here's a short review, with all them juicy bits and pieces left written. Just saw it, so gimme a break if it ain't exactly top 'o the line, if you catch my drift.
So. okay. the plot, basically, there's this chick with a guy's voice (a bit like anti-michael jackson) and she's got a bunch of tentacles comin' outta her behind. Well, from her back or something, and she's sorta related to those ninja chicks. she wants power and gets it from/by well.. I dont think I need to draw any pictures here.
The fx. Well, it's not bad for a low budget cosplay flick from japan. better than some I've seen. The acting was pretty good. the fights could've been better, but the gals had the right kinda idea what they were doing. The tentacles then. Well, there were atleast two kinds of tentacles, one, the main type was like a garden hose which they put around the girls and pull backwards and forwards and such, from offscreen and sometimes the girls themselves. There were also these "end tentacles", with little mouths and such like with the aliens monster. There were also some cheap pyrotechnics. The katanas in the end fight did look a bit like real steel, as they always do, but the way they bend and such was sorta giving away.
If I were to say, I'd say it was quite a feminist film. The main emphasis was on "don't give in to temptation or pleasure".
the ending music was okay. Something quiet and nice. Easy listening. There wasn't much music or sfx during the movie. Few blips and such.
Over all, it was quite entertaining movie, even though I couldn't help laughing at times. There was one part that felt quite over done, showing same/similar scenes and nothing but moaning for about 10 minutes. They could've added maybe some low-level cgi tentacles too for the hell of it.
Oh yeah. There were two main male characters, and damn they couldn't act shiat. Neither were that good looking either. I mean, I wouldn't be caught dead kissin' one.
The bloopers and such put after the end credits were fun. the girls seemed to have fun during the filming. :)
