I want another (series of) game(s) as epic as the Baldur's Gate series. Very much.
What I don't want is another game in the Baldur's Gate series. That series ended wonderfully, to try and open it again would be a crime.

Then go tell them that. Actually the whole thread is mostly about the same thing you want, Biggles. There are a few who wants it to be BG3 and some wants it to be Lord of the Rings, but mostly it's people saying that they want another epic adventure as good as BG series.

And BG3 can't really ever be made, because BW and interplay splited up over some legal issues and they aren't really best friends anymore. But Interplay got the license for Baldur's Gate games and the charecters in it and Atari got the Forgotten realms license, so I believe there will never and hopefully be a BG3.
• WHYWHY Elite Ranger
Personally, I'm pinning my hopes on Troika to do something similar. They did a rather good job with The Temple of Elemental Evil, despite the fact that it's basically one long single adventure centred around a single dungeon rather than a BG-esque campaign.
• Baldur's Gate is all about the Bhaalspawn. New story! More interactive world! Hotter elf chicks to romance! :D
• C_MonC_Mon A Genuine Sucker
Yes! You go tell em at Bioware that. Actually I don't care who makes the game as long as someone will make a good epic rpg game.

I don't think that Bioware could do it by themselves. I think that Black Isle had a big effect on BG's development.
• C_MonC_Mon A Genuine Sucker
Black Isle won't really do anything with Bioware, because BI is owned by Interplay and Interplay and Bioware don't get along very well. Although, Bioware has started a cooperation with Obsidian Entertainment. If my memory serves my, it founder of Obsidian entertainment was someone big from Black Isle.
Also I think Black Isle couldn't do anything by themsleves if you look at Icewind Dale, good games but not as good as Baldur's Gate.
• For all I care, they could do it in the same engine as BG2, as long as I got me some good, interactive adventuring. And a story, perhaps involving the Bhaalspawn saga, but not directly.

And I want evil to have separate paths from good!

I like the BG2 engine a lot, particularly the interface. It has the right balance of control. One thing I don't like about the NWN engine (apart from the goddamn henchman) is the interface.

Heh, that's one thing that always bugged me about NWN, there was never any references to, or mentions of anything that happened in BG2.

One of the things I never liked about Final Fantasy, is that none of the stories relate to one another; they're each their own little universe, totally separate. I'd like to see how my actions in Baldur's Gate II affected the world, from the perspective of someone else... maybe if you've beaten BG2, and played this new game, you'd have a chance to meet your former self, maybe even draft yourself into your party (obviously this doesn't work for BG2, but for future games, it'd be cool... a continuing universe). What would be VERY cool would be a game where your actions can result in any number of possible outcomes... and then, in the next game, the world was shaped by the outcome of the preceding story. Not only would the games have individual replay value (if they were as good as the BG series :)), it'd be cool to play through the whole series several times.

And yeah, I definetely think the BG2 engine was much better than that in NWN; much more intuitive, and dare I say, sexy. :)

Oh, and HIGHER LEVEL CAP! Like... Level 1,000,000. Over the course of 12 games. :D

That's kinda the point of them. They're separate stories in separate worlds.

REally I don't care what kind of engine they would use to make a BG kind of game again, but most surtanly they will use a new engine. Not only because Infinity Engine is old and was used to it's limits back in ToB, but also because it is a hell to work whit it, or so I've heard.

Which is why I hate them. I was making a point about RPGs in general, not just FF. :)
