That's pretty impressive.

Wow, I'd love to see the ring when it's finished :)
What are you making it of, and what are the red crystals going to be? Glass?
• MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment
Indeed. Niceness!
• shadow boxershadow boxer The Finger Painter & Master Ranter
Prolly straight 19K gold.

Rubies I hope... tho they may be some of the other red semi precious stones or maybe even garnets, if I went for glass, I'd make em mondo huge..:)

Its about $2000 USD worth of ring, dependent on the type of stones and the 4C's of those rocks. I'm guessing but I'd say theres about 2 Karats of stones in it. Atleast multipile small stones are cheaper than one big ass one.

I'm doing a deal with this guy I hope to make it, I trade him some display furniture for his shop for his contacts and work with jewelery.

• RubberEagleRubberEagle What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
looks nice :)
now this might be a stupid question:
why?
• shadow boxershadow boxer The Finger Painter & Master Ranter
heh... and now that I scale it down to 1:1 I'm thinking its too detailed for a ring, more like a small bracelet... oh well..:) we'll see how good Patrick is I guess, and I'll be guided by his experience.
• Rogue TraderRogue Trader Somebody stop him...
this seems like an egagement ring to me.

whos the luckly lady?
• shadow boxershadow boxer The Finger Painter & Master Ranter
I wish Rogue... I wish...

I have a 'girl'.

Shes about 3500 literal miles away...

and prolly a couple dozen light years away metaphorically...

I'm sure you're familiar with the on/off, bliss/misery, ordered/chaotic, roses/explosives, kind of relationship...

she may wear it one day...

for a few weeks...

until she cuts it into small pieces, loads it into a shotgun shell and shoots me with it..:)

In the immortal words of Pat Bennatar...

"love is a battlefield.."

:)

There are much worse ways to die than to be shot by a $2000+ worth shotgun shot ;)

You've definitely got an obsession with chameleons or whatever that lizardy thingy is. :) I know it offers great possibilities with the tongue and the legs but if I'd be a gal I wouldn't want to wear that. I think the actual design is good but chameleons? Not something very often seen in ring designs.

Now if your gal loves these critters than it's a good thing but otherwise, no. ;)
• shadow boxershadow boxer The Finger Painter & Master Ranter
yeah well DC... as I said, right now... its unlikely she'll ever see it. It may well be just mine.

What so disturbs you about chameleons ? I regard them as my totem animal, for I have great ability to change my spots, blend in with whichever crowd I'm with if I need to.

My tougue is my favoured tool, I live by my words.

The whole sexual/erotic connotation is also deliberate.

Lastly, you don't know Arianna.

She's most assuredly no mainstream gal. She may not like the design, but she wont be rejecting it out of any conservative values. It's originality is entirely a feature rather than a bug.

For a giggle I went into the local snobbish jewelery place, asking about rubies. I looked at a few pale shitty stones. They Then did the snobby equivalent of 'fries with that' and showed me a 4.5K $45,000USD diamond solitaire and all the shop assistant gals where hovering around it like moths to a flame. I asked the prettiest one to put it on and model it for me. She basically had an orgasm on the spot.

I said, "Lovely rock, bland as hell, the only thing that sets it apart from a million others is its 3 millimetres wider."

It was like I'd just torched the building...:D

Everyone decided they hated me. I hate the mainstream with unbridled passion.

In short DC... nothing I ever do is shallow.

Lastly, please don't take this as a personal attack, its not. I should have mentioned all this symbolism in the first place.

You're my hero, SB... :)
• You don't say :D

Reminds me of a conversation from Law & Order between the lead detective and his partner:
Lenny
"Rings are like a downpayment for women. If the relationship doesn't work out, at least they can get away with the ring."

Ed
"I know a whole lot of women who would kick you in your jewels for saying something like that."

Lenny
"After they got the ring."
But getting back to the ring, pretty neat stuff. Don't suppose you're putting an inscription on it, "One ring to rule them all" maybe? Or not.
• Data CrystalData Crystal Pencil Artist
Noo SB, none taken.

And I didn't say anything about you being shallow, nor your gal. I was just putting in some insight which you requested, I don't like the design very much but that's just me. You do your thing s you see fit, people don't always like my drawings but I always tell them to talk to the hand. :D

And believe me, I know that any gal with any brains respects something personal made by you yourself. Anyone can go out and buy something to their loved ones, it's a completely different thing to _make_ on yourself.

And about the chameleons, I like lizards in general, Chameleons rock too, but I just don't like your depiction of 'em. The wide eyes and the open mouth with an all-out tongue look a bit grotesque to me for lack of a better word, and in a sense you show all the attributes of the animal but not the grace and dignity of the animal itself. Or than it's just an image I alone get.

Anyways, she's at least going to appreciate it. ;)
• shadow boxershadow boxer The Finger Painter & Master Ranter
wide open eyes ??

cough, cough cough...

were you thinking the wrong sort of lizard ?

chameleons also have a tougue a little over thier own body length...
• Heh, well, there ARE more then one kind of chamelion.
We have ALOT of the lizard kinda, that are about 6-8 inches long here. green/brown/grey colors, pale red sometimes....
• Data CrystalData Crystal Pencil Artist
Yes well, the eyes are mobile but contrary to the public opinion, they're not always open. :) It's hard to depict any other way but it still seems a bit strange by me. Maybe a less-realistic and more stylished eye would be a good blend between realism and looks? Imho. :)

• Did not Lorien himself, say: 'Nothing is forever. Not LOVE, not life,' etc.....

• shadow boxershadow boxer The Finger Painter & Master Ranter
...and I suppose if nothing is forever then its not worth striving for then hey...

Loriens nihilistic approach to existence is pathetic.
• RubberEagleRubberEagle What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
just because something doesn't last forever doesn't mean that the time you have it can't be a great time...
• Trust Lorien. He IS the first one. :D

He was already old, by the time the molecules for our planets began to converge and form into a solid, celetial object. heh

So if it's true that with age, comes wisdom.... then just imagine how wise this guy is!!!

Ummm... WTF are you talkin' about, dude? Are you saying that B5 never happened? The Shadows aren't REALLY out there, on the rim? There really AREN'T any telepaths, reading our minds? There is NO Earth Alliance?

Hahahaha.... Very funny.... You ALMOST had me going! :D
ALMOST....

Tricksey little hobbitses.....

I suppose next he's gonna tell me that Lord of the Rings isn't real either!!!

I mean, it was a great historical/documentery film.... I don't understand how ANYONE can dispute the facts, clearly shown and proven in it.

Now as for this TITANIC thing tho..... I don't believe in that crap. It's gotta be fiction.... Just like the Roswell crash in 1947.
