There goes my boycott
Data Crystal
Pencil Artist
in Zocalo v2.0
Yup, sue me. :)
I started to boycott Sierra's games after the day the axe dropped on ITF and didn't buy any of their games from the following day on. And surprisingly, I've stuck to that until this year, I've bought the Classic -series' Aliens vs. Predator and after spotting Gabriel Knight 3 for 7.50e today I decided to stop being a hypocrite and go with it.
So that's the end of one era, and Half Life 2 is around the corner too... :p
Don't know exactly why I posted this here but I think it had something to do with the notion that you either boycott the buggers or you don't; the first option doesn't include the option of being able to buy HL2 when it's out. :D Which is what most of us ARE going to do, I imagine.
I had some pun in mind for Homeworld -players too but I kinda' forgot it. ;)

HL2 is on the other hand a big test of my strenght in this issue...
Funny, I found few weeks ago again my old school project website which had the "Boycot Sierra" banner rotating on the main page :)

Yes, well I have no intention of breaking my boycott. I haven't even PLAYED anything related to Sierra since ITF was axed.
Is anybody knowing the Commodore Amiga ???
This machine was a cool machine, and Sierra Online was programming really cool games, like Larry 1 - 5.
So I have to say, that I 've bought "Sierra Online" - games, but none of Sierra wich isn 't the same cool firm, like Sierra Online ( the Original Sierra ).
regards
Chicky
And yeah, I grew up with Larrys and Quest For Glorys, and Sierra Online was the other great publishing house back then with LucasArts' that made great adventure games. Don't think we'll be seeing many of those anymore... :I
After that, they turned into something else shortly before the ITF incident but right now I've seen enough changes in the company's structure to let them "back in the loop" again. :) Boycott if you want, a raise of the hat your way if you go all the way... I'm tainted already so it's useless to resist. :)
I'm sure the devs might have something insighful to say here about supporting the creators and actual developers of the good games and some such... ;)

Like the avatar mate. :) Love sinfest. ;)
As a former Dev, I hate the corporation, but support the Dev Studios...
;)
So... in the end, whatever it was that Sierra mutated into, they got our message...
;)

meh... The "Boycott" has been over for a while for me now...

If Ken and Roberta were dead, they would be spinning in their graves seeing what Sierra has become.

No, but I've got something better.....

See you guys in a few hours. :)

Wait, what did Sierra mutate into, and what message did they get?
I really want the Radeon 9600 XT to replace my GeForce, but am willing to instead get the 9600 Pro if Sierra is evil.

My C64 monitor is currently being used by my PS2, because our good TV is being used for it's intended purpose, and the other is broken... :(

lol, thats pretty bad...
lol, thats pretty bad...
Still quite amusing... :p
The only one I've bought was Homeworld. Apart from that, they haven't actually produced a game I want. :)
They really haven't produced $#!+... Just published...
Relic, Barking Dog, Valve, etc still get my support. Just because they had to make deals with the devil to get their games out...
:p
So now, there will be no more Sierra.... you won't have to worry about anymore boycotts or anything. (Unless you boycott WESTWOOD, I guess).
There was even a rumor or something about bringing back ITF...? But I wouldn't get my hopes up.
I'll see if I can find that article online.... and post the link, later.

Actually, I just heard today that WESTWOOD is buying Sierra... They plan to keep everyone working on HL2, tho... and publish it when it's done. So far, it looks like most of the developers and people working on current projects, are going to stick around, too.

What's left is in the Bay Area from what I hear. EA is no better than Sea-Era at management calls...
:(
They got an "Electronic Arts Drive" (some street) there, and there are some pretty big buildings! heh... That must be them!

Can't help it if the developers have to use Vivendi to sell their games.
