I've been perusing the Trek site, "SECTION 31", in which certain members have accused BABYLON 5 of cheesy dialogue:

    Yeah, I hate Star Trek, - a few episodes with were ok, I could never rewatch any of them like I do with B5

    I agree; cheesy dialogue was not uncommon to B5. But the really cool speeches made up for it.

    Anything with Wesley Crusher. However, I agree B5 had some pretty cheesy dialogue. Still my favorite show by far - except the cheese.

    I'll be the first to admit that some of the dialog is cheesy... but the cheesy dialog is usually in places where characters are making jokes...this, to me, adds a bit of realism to the show.

    Too often in Star Trek and other sci-fi shows, dialog is SO perfect that it's almost Shakespearean. The occasional cheesy dialog is just part of B5's gritty realism. I love it when a B5 character cracks a joke that doesn't quite fly...

    While his character was whiney, and annoying, and such, he was left very unbalanced and without closure. Maybe this can do it.

    I just want to make something clear, if I ever bash a character then I do so in-context and exempt things outside like acting ability. The two aren't related. I think we've established this - evidence is this thread. I would advise you all to remember this when critiqing shows you don't like such as Voyager. Don't throw the actor out with the character. For example, [bleep] is a MEGA-biatch but I have nothing wrong with Kate Mulgrew; however, I do have something wrong with Rick Berman, the man responsible for [bleep]. See what I mean?

    Agreed. All I would ask for is that Kate Mulgrew could play this stupid character a bit 'worse'... so that the J-character could in fact rise above the overall stupidity.
