The new (temporary) site appears to have a few bugs, so I'll post all the links here:

Its currently aligned around a single technic axle (lengthened with the little grey connectors).

I have plans to fix this axle to the front and rear, so that only the central section can rotate freely. I will change the design to use a thicker axle (a technic axle inside a 2x2 round brick) for stability later, but for now the main task is to complete the model.
(you may have noticed that the rotating section has large sections missing. I wanted to get some new pics up last night, so put it together quickly. The scale and shape of it still needs work)

Once the model is done, 4 things follow:
Renderings of the model (5 point views etc).
Renderings of scenes with the omega and some fighters, maybe even some firing as well...
The correction of the weak axle problem (internal, so it wont affect the renderings etc.)
Then the deconstruction of the model to do final piece counts and write building instructions. Maybe someone with alot of free time will get enough pieces to build it.

PS: Any comments on the Nial? Its so hard to do organic styling with lego bricks.

And anyone who wants to join the project, in any capacity, is welcome. Applications via email, ICQ, or these boards.

What program are you using to do this?

• Wow, wish I had the time to do some of that.
For the Nial, I think perhaps you should do the following:
on the dorsal wing, turn the light colored two-pronged piece sideways
also on the dorsal wing, replace the dark two-pronged piece with a 1x1 plate of the same color, and a 2x2 L plate on top of it turned diagonally so as to have it like an arrow pointing backwards.

For the turning mechanism on the guns on the Omega, it looks as though you are using a 2x2 plate, with a 1x1 round plate stuck between the for bumps, with a another 2x2 plate on top of that. It would be sturdier to use a 2x2 turntable plate, but it would be more accurate, so I guess it should stay as it is. As for the gun itself, it would seem to be a 1x1 round brick stuck in a 1x2 holed brick , with another 1x2 brick. I feel it would be more accurate to use a 1x1 holed brick (I suggest the using the kind that have a bump on one side, and a square hole on the other, they are more common and you can easily place a flat 1x1 plate on the bump to make it look cleaner) on the outside (you would thus have a mirrored model for different sides) and put the round brick on it so that it lies [i]over[/], not past, the plate, then placing a 60-30 2x1 triangle brick to its side. While some might argue that replacing the triangle brick with the common 'control lever' specialty piece (used as the tail for your nial) would be more accurate, I say that using the trangle brick there (possibly some kind of decorated one to signify the targeting barrel there) would give it a better overall look, due the difficulty in placing such small but necessare details as the trangular sides of the guns.

If none of this makes sense, try rereading it while ignoring the words in parentheses.
Astonishing job, I wish you the best of luck, and that you not come across too many nitpickers like me.

If I get time one of these weekends, I may just join...
• Wow. Those look really good. Awesome work. Maybe if you're nice, Biggles or Sanfam will put your link on the main page in the jumpgate section.

You should use mlcad. It's incredibly realistic and makes the lego look very nice. I hate to say it but the one you are using makes the lego look rather dull and flat.

Biggles: Remember, eamonmca is probably rendering through ldraw, mlcad, or such. To create a truly good render, you must use something like RayPOV(free) or Lightwave(!free)

Lord Dquan - While you assesment of what I did was spot on - Im not entirely sure what you're getting at. could you make up and post a pic of your idea? It does sound interesting.
Thats for the omega, as for the nial - your idea is physically impossible (if i understood it correctly) - the lego pieces just dont fit that way (I have real lego to prove this).

TheKnave: This is a small one-man project at the moment. As it progresses, Im discussing joining forces with the people at http://members.v3space.com/b5lego/ Maybe I will maybe I wont, but for now I'll run with it myself.
When I finish the omega, and start doing some rendered battle scenes, maybe start a sharlin or something, I'll maybe ask the moderators.
Besides, I want to change webspace to a more appropriate url. That was for my failed HW mod.

All comments and critcism are welcome. Even nitpicking.
