or.....
a free browser with banner ads, does nearly all of the above....and isn't fully skinnable.
Gee, which one to go with.... ;)
Either way, its not that source open security holes known as Internet Explorer. :D [/B][/QUOTE]
Not fully skinnable? explaine please.
I once tested Mozilla and it was so damn slow to start so I chose Opera over Mozilla. They have probaly made Mozilla start faster now, but I'm keeping Opera as I see no problems in it.
Still, as you said, everything is good as long as it isn't IE! :D

The *entire* interface of Mozilla is skinnable. Not just the dinky toolbars like in IE or its clones. As for Mozilla's startup time, in the pre 1.0 days it did take a bit longer to load. Now it loads MUCH faster.
Right now the startup times for IE6 and Mozilla are pretty much the same. However, pages load MUCH faster in Mozilla.

Firebird starts even faster than Mozilla.
Have to agree on the page load speed thing.
Mozilla is the whole suite of applications, browser, e-mail client, irc client etc. whereas Firebird is only the browser component.
RubberEagleWhat's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
ok, thanks :)

Except that it's not simply "only the browser component." It's a separate browser under separate development. The interface has been significantly tweaked and is far more customisable than Mozilla's.
As for showing pictures in forums: you need to allow mozilla to load images from servers other than the server the page is coming from. Many people restrict image loading to only the page's server to block ads.

Biggles, I'm not sure thats what he means. I'm running Mozilla 1.5 and I can't get Attached images to load properly on this forum. For some reason, it always opens them in my graphics program, rather then in my browser. Yet linked jpgs open fine - its only the jpgs that are accessed though a .php extension. I don;t understand this...but I live with it becuase Mozilla is SO MUCH better then IE!

You damn well better. ;) I actually timed the loading speed between IE6 and Mozilla 1.4 and IE6 was slower at loading the Beyond Babylon site by atleast 2 seconds. Before anyone starts blaming my system, I had created a brand spanking new profile with the BARE essentials running leaving me JUST enough to run the programs and connect to the internet. Nothing at all was running in the system tray or startup folder.
At the time, I was running my 700MHz Duron on my previous board, the Asus A7V with half a gig of PC133. I didn't run both at the same time. I created a new profile for Mozilla so history and cache wouldn't be an issue. I cleared the cache and history for IE6. I even cleared the prefetch folder just for kicks, even though it would have absolutely nothing to do with page loading performance. :) I only had Java (Sun flavor) 1.4 installed at the time so plugin loading wouldn't be an issue. This was all on a relatively fresh install of WinXP.

However, if you go into your "Helper Applications" section of your preferences and add the following:
Mime: application/image
Extention: jpg
Set it to open with the default application.
See if that helps.

Attached images open in an image viewer because the script is starting a download rather than just opening the address that points to the image (most likely, there isn't one because it's stored in the database).

Funny thing is, this is the only forum I've ever run into this issue on. I'm hoping that its something that Kier will get around to fixing in vB 3.0 because its kinda annoying.

What type of Firewall are you using ???
Softwarefirewall or a Hardwarefirewall ???
If it 's a Softwarefirewall ( Personally Firewall ) These types of Firewalls are easy to hack.
A Hardwarerouter in combination with a Hardwarefirewall is not easy to hack.
And Linux or FreeBSD is nearly savely between hackers...
