I agree with the person who's name is too long to type. Firebird 0.7 just plain rocks.

It only takes forever to load if you're running a POS 486......or stupid enough to buy a pre-fab PC with shitloads of crap you don't need running in the background.

Mozilla loads in 3 seconds on my box (running a 700MHz Duron with 256MB PC2700 DDR)

No. I don't like crap running in the background.

Opera is the fastest!
• Random ChaosRandom Chaos Actually Carefully-selected Order in disguise
A lot of websites don't suppot Javascript under Opera...causing some websites to work horribly.
• C_MonC_Mon A Genuine Sucker
And some got something against Opera. Because if I switch opera to be recognized as IE some pages work.
• Random ChaosRandom Chaos Actually Carefully-selected Order in disguise
Yep...the simple reason is:

You can download and test IE.
You can download and test Mozilla.

You can't download and test Opera easily - becuase they want to charge you after a short demo period.

This makes it VERY hard to make sure webpages are compatible with Opera.

Plus, often webpages check browser version inside Javascript so it knows browser irregularities of code. Opera isn't one that is ever checked in prebuilt code. Becuase of this, lots of webpages don't support Opera in Javascript. Also, I do not know where to find a good reference of accepted Opera browser access commands in Javascript, such as how to rewrite the source of an ******. These things are what good reference guides are for. Mozilla has good ref guides, but often hard to find what you want. IE has a TON of good reference guides that never work with other browsers. Opera doesn't seem to have any! It makes it very hard to code for a browser where they don't tell you what works and what doesn't...and you can't easily get a copy of the browser to test sites on.

I can very much understand why Opera isn't well supported. I have written a lot of websites. And not one have I been able to make work on Opera that used specialized Javascript when the site worked on IE and Mozilla. And I do have access to Opera.

You can't download Opera and test easily? I downloaded it only to test how it is and I fell in love with it. I got the advertisment version, and I don't even notice the advertisement.

I wasn't insulting you personally, just the ignorant saps that just don't know any better. The damn things are so problematic its insane. Hell, a damn Dell in one of the labs on campus got a cause of heatsink-falling-off-processoritus....which turned a 1.8GHz p4 into a nice scorched paperweight. (something Dells are famous for) Don't get me started on how shitty Gateways and Comcrap's are. I used to work in a tech support call center and I'd get calls all the time about comcraps fucking up some way or another. A good friend of mine worked at a call-center that Gateway and a couple other manufacturers out-sourced to. You would be SUPRISED at the crap he got calls on about Gateways....

As a self-proclaimed tech geek, I'd recommend you burn your money instead of buying a Compaq or Gateway...ESPECIALLY Gateway, if you go for their upgrade-every-two-years deal. My friend's 2-year old Gateway has a 5-gig hard drive, a low-end P3, and built-in cards. A lot of good games don't FIT on a 5 gig after installing Windows... and he paid roughly the same amount that I paid to build my rig, which is quite the opposite of bad. :)

I've written a lot of websites too with TextEditor and the help of SelfHTML. And Opera is simply great. It respects the new rules of the W3 consortium (for IE you have to add the transitional or strict rules), the Javascript operation is the fastest of all browsers ... you just shouldn't use the wrong Javascript1.2 term thats allowed in IE ... and all pages works fine for me. I'm buying at ebay, chatting in forums and look at media sites with Opera. The new version v7.2 is the best browser you can get.

I don't like the idea of having ads displayed in my browser, and I don't consider Opera to be that much better than Firebird to pay for it. Maybe one day, but not today. :)
• C_MonC_Mon A Genuine Sucker
Ads or no ads, I don't even notice it! But now that you've mentioned it, I look at it and it's match.com ad!
• Vertigo1Vertigo1 Official Fuzzy Dice of FirstOnes.com
Lets see, a free browser that loads pages faster than IE, actually loads things correctly everytime, and actually conforms to W3C and HTML 4.0 standards

or.....

a free browser with banner ads, does nearly all of the above....and isn't fully skinnable.

Gee, which one to go with.... ;)

Either way, its not that source open security holes known as Internet Explorer. :D
• BigglesBiggles <font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
My thoughts exactly.
