wondefull little thing about territorial claims, only nation states can make them, or acknowledge them, heck everything in the international arena comes down to the law of the gun. Wait, all law comes down to that ultimatly, never mind.
See in order to have a claim to a piece of land there is this concept called "soverignty" now while a piece of land can be considered "Terra Nulis" IE not have any occupants or any previous territorial claims to it, by making a claim to such land you are saying "this is mine, I am soverign" well then essentialy you enter the modern nation state system, and thus have to become a country, and then try to hold your land against foriegn claims, or try to get others to do so.

Does'nt the US Defie the UNs Wishes too?
Anyway, The world needs a International Space program.
And the planet and moon in this system belong to the people of earth, not anyone country or pirvate enterprise, I think its sick how some companys think the can sell land on the moon.
Now outside out star system is differnt.
Shadown Boxer is an Aussie, so he's making independent comments about the UN, and he's right.
Lastly there are three bodies in the UN, the Security Council, the General Assembly, and the International Court of Justice.
Of those three bodies only one is really binding and thats the Security Council, and the US is in NO violation of any Security Council resolutions.. (yay the Veto power!)
The general assembly resolutions are not binding, and for good measure, since those guys are usualy fairly idiotic, putting SUDAN on the human rights commssion, along with Libya and some fairly other nasty nations, forget bumping off the US, thats okay, but put Switzerland in or something, NOT the Sudan..
plus child abuse and sexual slavery rumors and charges in UNICEF and other fun things.. well the UN has got issues.
