Homeworld 2 music...

On a friends copy (legit by the way...) I noticed it installs a file called [b]music.big[/b]

Anyone know how to break that out into raw or MP3?

Sometimes I just love to listen to the ambient music iteslf...

I got lucky with my purchase of HW, because it had a special Music of HW CD along with it...

anyway...

    use the big extractor to extract the music files (fda format i beleive). change the file extensions to .aifr. Get winamp 2, not 3, and the relic aif codec. Set the output of winamp 2 to wave file and play the files, that will convert them to .wav files. i'm sure u can get them to .mp3 after that :).

    make sure u have all the .ocx and .dll files for the big extractor, if u downloaded the install, they should all be there.

    to set Winamp to export a wave file, go to OPTIONS>PREFERENCES>OUTPUT> [double click] Nullsoft Disk Writer Plugin> [this will bring up the settings] choose force wave file, and set everything else up :)

    yea winamp 2, just put it in your [Winamp directory]>plugins folder

    I ripped out all the Homeworld 1 music quite some time ago, exactly as LogicSequence described. :)

    You should try to rip the Baldur's gate music. Damn when they split up all the songs and then you manuly got to past them together.

    Does anyone know how to rip the sound files that deal with dialogue in BG2 and then convert them into a usable soundset for NWN? Edwin must be reborn!
