I'm going to use custom made portraits, so if you want to see mine when we play NWN download this and put the images in your NWN\portraits folder.
Also I've waited long enough now so I'm going to go and register me at "Thain" server and start playing. The Thain server is located under RPG games and ip address is 209.53.149.33:5121. Enjoy!

When is tonight for you? If it's a 12 hours time different it's fine by me. I'll get home from school 10am and after that I can play as much as I like so it should be 10pm for you.
I guess I will have to be the one Cleric then, named Edric Kallan, with points in diplomacy unless someone else is not going to totally neglect their charisma. There isn't really anything else I can spend skill points on.
What time do we start. I get back from class at 1:45PM Hawaii time, which is 7:45 Eastern Standard Time.
OK1 I've been asleep and then to school, so I haven't really had time since my last post to play. Well, I'll guess I'll go there and play now, and my name is Marduk something.
Hmm, the server's death penalty is a whole lot better than City of Arabel's which will take an ominous 6666 experience points away if you're level 5. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a community like Arabel's, and it's plagued by so many more open spaces that serve no other purpose than to make you run for a very, very long time before getting to a useless village full of merchants that sell absolutely nothing useful to anyone. Unless, of course, you need more bullets for your sling.
And for a "role playing" server, there's very little to do other than hack and slash your way through hoardes of goblins and kobolds. It's that, and shallow fed-ex quests. Or maybe I just haven't spent enough time roaming around the server's numerous empty spaces with the occasional band of kobolds and hungry wolves...
Not that I think a new server should be found... It's actually OK compared to a lot of other places I've been to. And my little rant describes every other RP server that isnt' plagued by problems that are almost the exact opposite of Thain, with the exception of the vast stretches of terrain that don't add any fun to the module. Those are pretty much everywhere.
At least Thain doesn't get on your case for powergaming. Arabel is one of those servers where your stats supposedly don't matter, and it's how you play your character that counts. I guess that's why they have such a severe death penalty, because it doesn't matter how powerful you are. Except, of course, for all the later quests you're restricted to after you're too high level to do the less combat-intensive ones. Or in instances where the DM decides to have a little quest. And then you better be at least level 10, or you're A) Ignored or B) Easily killed by everything. And if you're easily killed by everything, well, you'll never get to level 10 because of that severe death penalty. Unless, of course, you eat, sleep, and drink that server, and do all those group quests over and over and over again. But City of Arabel isn't about powergaming and just hack and slash action. Oh no, it's role playing, which in Arabel means standing around and following all the 10+ level characters through those vast, empty spaces devoid of anything fun to do.
Anyway, we need to schedule a time to play. I've already posted my availability. That post is inadequate in determining what time it is in your area in comparison to mine, right now it's 11:15PM Hawaii time. Compare that with what time the forum says I posted it in your time zone.
GARRR! I have serious PC problems, so I can only use the family machine (read: NWN on lowest graphics still skips to hell), and won't be back on the good one before the weekend. When I DO finally get on, however, my name will be Thruldor Somethingorother.
speaking of NWN, am I the only one having incompatabilities between NWN 1.31 and the Catalyst 3.8 drivers? Ive had some minor issues with the Cats so far, but nothing a reboot couldnt solve, but this is the first time a game has decided to error out my graphics driver, so nothing else will run either..
MY question is can we possibly be really evil without just being an annoyance.
I mean, I play on an enforced-RP UO shard, some of the best "bad guys" on the server were the ones who weren't truely evil. Granted, the shard had more of a low-magic, law vs. chaos theme than Good vs. Evil.
I mean, we had one character, a "paladin" in a sense of the word (IE: not necessarily LG, but a knight in the service of his god) who was responsible for overthrowing the previous government and burned people alive at the stake. Despite that, he was hailed a "hero" to some (especially the "populace" since the people he burned were damn dirty witches), and a murderer to others.
Likewise to the person who took over after him, he was a murderer and generally corrupt, but he ran the town excellently and was a hero.
and then the person who threw HIM out was a meglomaniacal cultist bastard who just MANAGED to capture and hold an empire and keep it peaceful and stable untill the world "ended" (read: map change).
Now, the people who just plain play bastards and try too hard to be evil are just damn annoying. Some Thief boasts that he was the shard's greatest villain, when all he was was an annoyance for most everyone. Likewise a mage who just went around toasting everyone he could find (and I daresay did a good job of it) was just a nuicance rather than a threat.
I don't think we want to be a annoyance, but instead break some good char old rules. Also I read on this servers forum they like to have battle between evil and good chars.

Perhaps I don't play enough NWN... modules allow you to CONTROL KINGDOMS? Where have I been...
We will practice evil in the same manner NPCs like Edwin practiced evil. We will be self serving, arrogant, and condescending towards others. We will get away with whatever we can and make sure no one can do anything about it, either because might makes right (when we're just better than everyone) or because of some server rules or laws of the city/village or whatever the server is set on.
When we are evil, we don't have to actively mess with other people or go on rampant player killing sprees, just act in a manner that is seemingly anti-social when we do interact with others, without going so far as to put ourselves in too much personal danger. So, for example we might do things like talk about how we once tortured a fairly young paladin or whatever while standing next so some other players in an attempt to bait them into acting all righteous at us, just to give us an excuse to hurl insults at them.
This "self-serving," by the way, does not apply to inter-party relations. We will work as a team, partially because by doing that we will all be collectively more powerful for it. We will help each other, and only screw over everyone else. If we ever help someone else, it will be because there is something in it for us.
Remember, we are providing a service to all the "good" players out there, who have nothing else to do but sit around a campfire waiting for something to happen. In that sense we will not be an annoyance.

My PC is eeevil... I can't say when I'll get it back up and working so I can test. And does it happen all the time, or am I going to have to play a while?
Uh no it happens all the time for me, I try to load NWN and I get an error message saying something like NWNMAIN has caused a page fault in ATIXXXX (cant rember the file name), then I have to reboot, because none of my other games will recognize my card after that. It pisses me off.

I MIGHT have my PC working tomorrow, but if not then, then it might be as much as a week or two before I can test this. :(
Or get SoU and play at City of Arabel! :) It's a damn good PW, but as MT said they are all too good there, so a litle evil should do some good there. :D
BTW MT, do you have ICQ, msn or something so I could get hold on you when you're online.

09:30 GMT, by the way, is 23:30 (11:30PM) Hawaii time, and 04:30 EST.
I will be the Ture Neutral Charature!!
