Google?

Help! For some reason when I go to google using IE 6 I'm getting "can not open this search page" or just 'page not found'. I swear I read something about a search engine denial of service attack/virus not to long ago related to the search pages - and the pop-up error seems to be like the blaster virus. But I don't know what's going on because I'm running 98 - with every patch and a clean virus check!

Also, the PC runs fine otherwise - google and all google powered search engines don't work, neither does infoseek or yahoo... wtf :mad: ?

Anyone have an idea? :(

    Well - thank's for trying - but it didn't find anything. I tried a full scan with Norton again this morning after running live update - still nothing.

    BTW - Netscape did a similar error - "Page contains no data - try again later or contact..." bla bla bla :confused:

    In addition other than firstones ;) I don't surf questionable pages.

    I take it all back! It worked! The little auto program I dowloaded from your link didn't - but the instructions for doing it manually did! Thanks a bunch bobo!!!

    I saw "The Practice" a few days ago. There the judge talked about someone having a BAD monkey at his back, and that was adiction to drugs, but the person beated his monkey and got rid of it.

    When I heared that I was thinking about bobo hanging on someones back. :D

    I've had this *exact* same problem. Oddly enough, I also can't access a URL I modified in the Hosts file (Sanfam.rh.rit.edu points to 192.168.0.2

    After doing some DNSing of google, and then finding that google via IP works, I googled up the numbers I found, and came up with this.

    It's Qhost, but not in a very detectable manner. the Symantec utility didn't eliminate it, either.
