• That's damn cool!!
• Maybe he'll get lucky when the B5 feature film is someday made!!

That is mega mega cool! Gosh if only they could get that made. Yeah I reckon we'd have to wait for the feature film really before WB would consider licensing that type of product. Brings back memories of my starship building projects with my lego collection. Those were the days!

lego is the coolest shite... I mean really, I love the stuff... I'm 29 and I still play with it... design stuff with it even...

they lost thier way a little with all the 'precast' bits...the bits you should be 'fabricating' with bricks and rods and with all the 'themed' crud...

the lego Dacta stuff is just brill... shame you have to use school stationery to get it..

• heh, I always played with legos. I stopped colecting legos a few years ago, but still have a huge box full of them. I'd make 2-3 story houses, compleat with LED lights, yard, etc.

(And robots, lots of spaceships, etc. )

Anybody have enough to attempt a B5 Station?

• croxiscroxis I am the walrus
I could only do it in LDraw. A B5 in lego would be very, very cool. Getting it to be rotatable will be a sucker though.
• BigglesBiggles <font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
You would need some complex parts for the rotation mechanism. I have no idea how you would build the thing strong enough to hold it's own weight.

A friend an I were attempting a Lego Omega. Problem is, he doesn't like Lego Technics very much. You can imagine how *that* ended up
Actually, I don't know how it is right now, but I still stand by my opinion that Technics can easily reinforce the design while providing proper asthetics through hull plates. The rotating section could be done quite easily with the use of some large gears as the basis of multi-axle axles. (as in, using the axles in an interlocking fashion with multiple redundencies.
• croxiscroxis I am the walrus
Does anyone have enough pieces to try?
• Hmm... I've done scenes for toy store windows in the past professionally, so I've got the skills to try.
I did an omega once on a small scale (only about nine inches) just for fun since it is my favorite ship (it was yellow) and had a rotating section, I'll start on a new one once I get past my Business Law exam on Friday. It will be yellow or red again though, maybe bigger. LOL.
• BigglesBiggles <font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
A yellow omega? That's just not right! I demand you dunk your lego in grey paint!

Remember, the problem does not actually come from getting the section to rotate, but in maintaining a solid axle so that the Engine block and front section do NOT rotate independently.

There are 2 ways to do it. One is strong, but the rotation isnt very smooth. The other is weak but gives smooth rotation.

Im busy now - will post details later.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
Which is waht I had solved. The Omega I used had the rotating section like so:
oOo
0
where the o = small pully, O = large gear, 0 = pully connected to motor.
The small pullys would be mounted slightly outside the rotating section, and could not rotate. They would be attached together and to the main pully by a rubberband. The main motor would drive the rubberband. The large gear was there simply to provide a solid base with many axle connections for stability.

Actually, I'll go malke a photo of it.
• BigglesBiggles <font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
Probably a good idea. That diagram is meaningless.

• Man... wow... it's been a really long time!!!!
Is there anybod there?
This isn't active anymore but I just remembered I started the lego page which then went into oblivion...
I didn't even know people were interested in it
• I wish I had a bunch of Legos. Those things are fun.
• BigglesBiggles <font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
You can have virtual lego! http://www.ldraw.org/

Holy ancient threads Batman...

and yes legos are fun. I have a feeling that one day my brother and I will have to fight to the death over the Legos we'd accumulated as children...

• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
Legos >>>>> (* != Candy)
• I read that the levels in Metal Gear Solid where designed with Legos.
• I found some of my old lego's and made a "passable" Whitestar. I'll see about getting a photo up but its nothing special. Just something I threw together back when I had first watched all of b5 on tv and the Whitestar is my favourite B5 ship.

I also made a Defiant but the Whitestar had blown it to hell... haha
• Neat, I never though of trying to do B5 stuff. My crowning achievment was a Dragon Fighter from Wing Commander 4, complete with the folding wings.

Wish I still had those little bricks of fun, bu tnow i can see what i can do with this lDraw thing, then maybee try in real life after i get some bricks for the future kids.
