    I couldn't either (Game would load, but would freeze when it loaded in the MiG 29 mission) until I put the graphics detail down to low, and took the screen res down to 800x600.

    Try doing the same, and if it works, you can then experiment with resolution / details settings.

    Press Page Up several times to increase the throttle (page down to decrease).

    I thought that's what I was doing.

    Shouldn't I be hearing the engines?

    Or not falling out of the sky? Explosions are pretty, but they don't help me fly any better.

    ok. Seems part of my problem was me pressing the button and holding it. Pressing page-up repeatedly seems to do the trick. I was also annoyed, though, at the lack of engine noise inside the cockpit to tell me my engines were on. :D

    I finally realized it when I did the right stuff and suddenly starting rising.

    So that mission starts in mid air? doesn't it seem a bit odd to have the throttle set to 0 while flying?

    Just a bit. I was more confused by the "Crashing into the ground" part, though. Also, not noticing the enemy was slowly gaining on me. I think I'll attempt a proper landing, though. Once I can land, I can get back into the air with less pain.

    You mean it's not normal for places to just appear in mid air at the start of their missions?

    Update. I've figured out how to land and not die. Problem is still finding the place to land, so...I'm getting there.

    I also successfully destroyed all but one of the enemy vehicles in the A10 mission. Only problem is, I spent so much time learning to fly it, I ran out of fuel before the last one.
