My pals from the German Forum and me are planning to make a Presentation of Buda5 and IFH on the L.E. Spaceday at Leipzig on October 25th.
I want to show the InGame Mod and the Mission Collection there.
Also I plan to let print some advertising material. Hehe, at least I need some advertising material .. a promotion poster or something, e.g. with screenshots and the Buda5 Logo on it.
Do one of you have such promo stuff?

Hi Logic,
though you're very busy due to Homewold 2 and maybe also RL(tm) I have a request for some work for ya.
Could you make a promotion poster which I can plot?
I intended the following operating parameter

Plotsize: A3/A2 format -> Resultion about 1600x1200 or higher
It's for the InGame Mod and Mission Collection so following content is possible:

Background a model (Babylon5 station) with the Buda5 Whitestar before it
Foreground: Screenshots with the titles of the available packages of the Mission Collection on their bottom (Skirmish Generator, Buda5 Escort, Buda5 Gallery, ...)
Foreground: Buda5 V2 Logo and the term "Buda5 InGame Mod" or something like that

Example: IFH Poster
Or if P3K knows how to create such poster, you are welcome to do this, too!
not a problem, i'll get right on it after class today. do u want it bigger than the size u said? it's just a render, so i can make it as big as you like. what are u going to print it on?
Yes, thats the minimum size I thought.
I'll plot it on normal or glossy paper. Size: Approximately A3 format.

we settled on Buda5: Journey of SHadows right?... do u want it on it's own poster?
Yes please, Explorer campaign should get its own poster.
my thinking for the explorer poster is a simple movie style poster, nebula background, Buda 5 in our logo style, and below it, Journy of Shadows in shadow bio armer texturing. then below that, Coming 2004. then at the very bottom, our credits.
Okay, nebula = mystery, fits good to the explorer campaign.
Maybe the Buda5 Logo could drop a shadow onto the background nebula? Could easily done with Photoshop-Layers for example.
Credits is a nice idea, too.
Looking forward to it!

Some ideas:

The screenshots should be a bit brighter so the viewer can recognize more than shadows and some lights.

In the sentence you're mention the game engine I would include an annotation like this Revolutionary proven game engine* provides ..., and on the bottom of the poster the dislcaimer: *Main program:Independence War 2(tm): Edge Of Chaos - ©2001 Infogrames, ©2001 Particle Systems. All rights reserved. Independence War(tm) ist a trademark of Infogrames Europe SA. ...the europe publisher due to we show it in europe.

Furthermore our web adress should be included ... e.g. on the bottom of the poster.

Maybe the Logo could get some transparency

And the term "Mission Pack" (Mission Collection?) could be a little bit more highlighted so you get a smoother transistion between the black background and the letters.
hey... roi... it's an update! not the finished product! :) give me a chance! i know what to do :)
... I couldn't await to see the final product so I cheated myself and thought that where the final ;) ....
Btw#1, in Skirmish the player can control 37 different fighters and capitals.
Btw#2, P3k mentioned something (in a little bit ironic way):
BABYLON 5, characters, names, and all related indicia are trademarks of Time Warner Entertainment Co., LP. ©2001 Time Warner Entertainment Co., LP
Of course he's right but I don't think we need to include that on the poster b/c you never mentioned a character or a name or used a symbol on the poster (instead of the engine of IWar). Only the term Babylon5 is a direct relation to this ... but, well, nothing is perfect ;) .
I'd make sure any and all legal outlets are put there. Better safe than sorry.
do u like the purple buda 5? or should we go with the blue/grey buda 5?
I'd try the blue/grey logo also .. maybe so:
Blue/grey for InGame and Mission Collection
Traditional Purple for Explorer Campaign
EDIT: Sanfam mentioned that to get a good print quality i should go 300 pixels per inch on printed paper. in the US poster size is something like 42 inches by.... gah something i forgot, anyways, that's like 22,000 pixels high. so it's gonna be a BIIIIIIIIG image. my question, ROI, is how large (in inches if you can please) is the poster your planning to print on? A4 i think? (or A3... i'd go for whichever is larger).

The blue version I like much more. Nice work pal. I need an A3 plot, but an resolution (height) of 4000 pixel is quite enough ... it would be still a good quality.
ISO Format A3: 11,69inch x 16,54inch
At least in Photoshop when you make a new file there is different settings for width, height (pixels) and resolution (pixels/inch) so I think you don't have to have something like 20000x15000 pixels picture.
DPI is the important factor for plotting. DPI = Pixel/Inch. A general factor for a picture is 72dpi like digital cameras have. I prefer a pixel/inch of 300dpi.
So for the A3 Format a resolution of 3508pixels x 4961pixels would be okay.
Furthermore when you click on "New" in Photoshop you can choose the option "A3" with 300dpi per default. (at least in the german version)
@roi:
isn't that a little small???? when i print it i'm getting it like 42" by 38" or something like that. Movie poster sized.
who said anything about photoshop? i'm doing this all in lightwave. and to get a good print, trust me, u'll want 300 pixels per inch.

The resolution for the A3 format is enough but you can do also a version for the A2 format if I get it plotted in this size:
A2: 7016pixels x 9922pixels @300ppi
Would be nice if you could post it until tomorrow. :)
i'll post it ASAP, it's almost done, i'll work tonight and finish it.
fine :)
I don't want to make stress but it would be really good when you could get ready it today 'cause it will be fine if we have a Buda5 poster at the presentation. :)
It's rendering as we type :) it will be done in about 3-4 hours. i will post it AS SOON as it's finished rendering, sorry it took so long, but u know how artists are...
no problem ...
... btw, I know how we all are: that we are never fully satisfied with what we have created and that we do that in freetime and voluntary besides our RealLife -> so I never will make disapprovals regarding the release date.
... just a little bit requesting to determine if it's possible to get it ready ASAP/soon enough ;) . Looking forward to it.
