Half Park Update Thread
samuelk
The Unstoppable Mr. 'K'
in Zocalo v2.0
Rather than post a new thread every time, or rename existing threads, I figured I'd just post a generic "updates" thread and use that whenever I create a new comic.
With that said, Episode 9 is now online].

Edit: Great one. Not as great as some of the others, but still, top notch :)
So... How come he has a garfield mug, and why have you highlighted it on the main page?

The Garfield mug is just for kicks. I like to throw a little curve ball every now and then: Here's the G-Man--an indestructible (in the original Half-Life, anyway) government agent with a permanent scowl--who just happens to have a cute Garfield coffee mug.
As for why it's highlighted on the main page, there's really no reason. The first set of thumbnails (for episodes 1 - 7) on the main page are miniature versions of one entire panel. They were made by someone else before the page went online.
When I started doing the thumbnails, I wanted to take a full-size segment of part of one panel that doesn't tell anything about the subject of the comic. The Garfield mug seemed like the best choice for that one.
(Sorry, I might be humorless)
Messiah: If you were up on recent HL news, it would be hilarious to you too. Lets just say there was a big bungle called Steam to try and stop cheaters. It causes untold problems ;)
Steam isn't just an anti-cheat system. Although it can make preventing cheats easier, that's not why it was created.
Steam is what Valve calls a "content delivery system". Valve is converting all of their current games (Half-Life, Counter-Strike and various mods) to use Steam as well as future titles like Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2.
Basically, you'll be able to purchase games through Steam and download them without having to buy a CD. Steam will handle game updates, login information and CD Keys (it has replaced Vivendi's WON ID system). Steam also acts as a server browser and buddy list.
And so far, Steam's release has been a bit rocky. There's a rumor going around that the problems with Steam are why Half-Life 2 has been delayed.

If you played CS, you would know the real reason for the delays is that a mob of angry CS fans stormed Valve's headquarters, protesting the inclusion of the shield, resulting in the death of over half the development team.

That would never happen. CS players aren't that organized, even in protest.

Someone would throw the lucky rock that hit Gabe Newell, and everyone else would blame him for stealing their kill, and mob him instead. :D
