Cheapskate....
nope. the 1800+ was bought OEM, so it didn't come with one. I bought a 40$ heatsink for it, and it works wonderfully with my 2600+ :)
heatsinks aint that expensive, I had a tricky one here for a while with an edge wound fan attached... but I trashed the fan whilst exploring its guts, there HAS to be someone out there with one who can pass theirs on.
Ive seen a really 'arty haus' one made from a bunch of nails all welded together at the base, it seemed to do the job and looked pretty cool... A spiky steel hedgehog thing. I guess when it comes down to it a heatsink is a pretty basic device, you could perhaps get away with almost anything, given enough surface area, airflow and thermal conductivity with a good chipface.
come to think of it... a dead flat plate of copper... with a bazillion hair fine copper wires soldered to it would do the job admirably...
toadally lotech... heh...
well when I build my l33t Pus C gamerz Ax, I think I'll do just that. I like the paradox... uber sleek powerful, infinitely complex machine... with copper dredlox for a heatsink..;D
I'm getting me a new heatsink, with heatpipes that curve up from the bottom to the top of the fins. It doesn't help cooling a whole lot, but it looks damn sexy, and my mom is paying the $50 for it. :D
I'll see if I can donate my HS (if we need it), but I might not be able to.

if you can, and it supports a 1800+, then OH YEA!!! that would rock, and most likely mean that there is already enough for the mobo....
c'mon people, despite what some have suggested, this isn't a scam, and not many people have donated yet. :(
Currently Jack is getting a GeForce 3 ti 200 @ 128MB
Athlon XP 1800+
those are already sent, and should be there soon...
We NEED:
Mobo capable of handeling an 1800+
a case for the mobo w/ power supply
I almost forgot to add thermal compound...
and a heatsink.
how are you for RAM BTW? if less then 128, we might want an extra stick of that...

Whatever you choose for a case (should you not go with the one I linked to), AVOID ENERMAX LIKE THE PLAGUE! You guys have no idea how many RMAs they get because of their shitty power supplies. Also, be for anyone starts complaining about the price for the RAM (which is VERY reasonable mind you), keep in mind that PC2100 is actually more expensive. Thermal compound comes with the heatsink (or it should). If you don't get any, e-mail me. I'll send ya a tube of thermal compound that I'm not using anymore. (got some better stuff when I got my koolance watercooling kits some time ago)

Package arrived today sir... Thank you very much...
That is one nice Video card by the way... even has S-Video out?!? OMG! :D
RE: RAM... The best I have are DIMMS (PC133) on these machines, aren't the new mother boards needing DDR or something?
RE: Case/PS... Is it too much to request something in Black or Dark Grey? :)
RE: K7### Mobo... That's a sweet mobo for the price there with the things it has built in already!
I've had *incredible* experience lately with the Vantec aeroflow. It's designed around a TMD fan, and does an incredible job of keeping a system cool. Problem is, it's $30. Benefits are lack of noise, incredible cooling efficiency. I've got four scattered about, and they're spectacular. Mom's 1800+ is running at room temperature, Friend's 2400+ is running at 95F.

Ok, someone send a list of what he is getting so far, as I have a, umm, extensive PC salvaging operation I can contribute from...

Yep, has SVideo out. :) I always liked the look of that card...all gold and shiney...glad it has a good home. :)
and yep, DDR is the new standard for RAM. :) and PC 2700 is GOOD. (I use PC 2100)

RE: Case/PS... Is it too much to request something in Black or Dark Grey? :)

hmm...with a window? ;)
I'm wishing I had listened to Sanfam when he tried to get me to buy a case with a window...stupid me...
Advanced Communication Riser
Explains everything when you click the "Chipset Info" link.
;)
Got a donation at work this morning after showing off the AMD chip to my fellow workers...
:D
Just need to locate some grease for when the two come together on whatever MoBo comes along...
:)
By the way, I'm not being picky... I just figured I'd ask for Black if it's available on whatever case comes along...
So I have...
Athlon 1800
Heat Sink/Fan
GeForce 3 Video Card
52X CD ROM
10Gig Hard Drive (for now)
Keyboard
Mouse
Need...
MoBo
Case/PwrSup
RAM
artic silver is pretty cheap though newegg, so that shouldn't be a problem. one tube of it will last you 20 years....
cool, good news on the heatsink!
now...lets get a case, mobo and RAM!!!

so long as it gets here in the next two years...I'm happy...
check that video card for hardware transform and lighting...
otherwise you'll be as fucked as I am... I have HW2... and to me right now... the CD is a very expensive drink coaster...
grrrrr...

True transform and lighting I believe falls under the shaders...I know it supports that though.
