 [/B][/QUOTE]

I think you deserve a break.
I have in my posesion a GeForce 3 ti 200 128MB card, and I can tell you, its ran JediKnight 2 VERY well. And a AMD Athlon 1800+ 1.53ghz proccessor.

I'm willing to send these to you free of charge.

So why make a thread about this?

well, the way I see it, JackN's still going to need a heatsink for that nice new processor, and a Mobo for both.
Thats where you guys come in.

Lets help Jack out guys! A good mobo is only about 60$ US, and a heatsink, a REALLY GOOD one, is anly about 40$. certainly someone here can help out a little.

Just buy a heatsink, and send it JackN's way, or a mobo. Shoot, just order it online and have them ship it direct!

I got a extra orginal Athlon XP 1800+ heatsink and fan. But sending it from here to the usa would probably cost more than I could aford.
Nice idea this, A2597! :)

I think the Asus A7N8X Deluxe is an ideal motherboard. It has such nice things as dolby digital 6 channel sound. :)
• Updated:
Added Ram to the list. (doh)
• C_MonC_Mon A Genuine Sucker
I got 256MB ram, and I want more myself!
• 512DDR, upgrading to 1024 soon. I would list my brand new PC's top-o-the-line specs, but I don't wanna depress anyone any more than they already are. :D

Jack you sod... take your gifts and be grateful... :D

this is about community spirit... I needled A# about this... told him I was happy to trade my hours building his wingart towards the purchase of the said computer components.

He's taken the ball and ran, which I'm most happy to see and expanded on what I thought about...

You're part of the furniture mate... let your mates express thier gratitude for you being such a stalwart and upstanding Firstone

so folks... wheres the heatsink and Mobo ?

hmmm ?

c'mon... someones got to have something stashed somewhere :D

wingart on offer to donors of bits...

nah, I just didn't have the funds to buy everything...
plus I hate seeing people left in the last century with PC specs...
And you deserve a break Jack.

So shut up and be happy 'cause your getting a new PC. :D
• CurZCurZ Resident Hippy
Well, I have a used standard AMD heatsink and fan that I had on my XP 2100+ before I switched to.. something else :p

Just need some way to get the melted thermal patch scraped off it.
• Rogue TraderRogue Trader Somebody stop him...
the only one i can spare with is a p1 133 comp.

he can have that if he wants to downgrade.....

but who wants to do that!

d'oh....
• Someone should get his case custom-made with the wingart on the side. :D
• JackNJackN Lightwave Alien
You guys are so special...

really...

:alien:
• If I weren't still fixing my PC (I need to replace my heatsink, because this one is too big for my mobo), I'd donate sumthin... =\
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
We need a way to get a motherboard, and I think the best way to do that is to pick one, get a price for it, then have one person who can order it and either pass it on to Jack or ship it directly to Jack collect the money (via Paypal, etc), then use it to do the purchasing. Ideally, that person would be in the States.
• Don't forget the heatsink biggles...thats a must for the chip to run right...

Jack might be able to use his old fan, but his old ship may not even have a heatsink....

BTW Jack, your GeForce and Proccessor are in the mail, marked fragile, parcle post. (Knowing the local post office, it won't leave my town for another week...but its in the mail)

still have the CD and manual too. ;)
• Falcon1Falcon1 Elite Ranger
I think we have a spare dual PII 400 motherboard at work... dual processor JackN!!!! Twice the power!!! ;) :D :p

I can do the pick-up and drop the stuff by Jack's next time I'm back home in Fresno; maybe visit the CSUF campus or something. Unknown when I'll be returning next, though. Thanksgiving at the latest.
• This is so touching... like one of those stories in the Reader's Digest where some crippled old lady who had an out of body experience gets her psychiatric bills paid by kind strangers... *sniffle*
• OK, Sanfam is the official "Go Getter" for the parts.

Donations for JackNs pc can be sent to Sanfam via PayPal (Just make certain that he knows what its for...) and he'll purchase the parts and ship them to JackN.

Thanks Sanfam!

now, lets get JackN a new PC!

What kind of power supply does this Athlo 1800+ 1.53 Ghz need? 350W, 400W ?
• CurZCurZ Resident Hippy
A 300W power supply should be enough, but 350 might be good just in case. All depends on what else sucks up power.
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
I'm running a 2600+ and GF4 Ti4800 on a 300W power supply, no problems.

Before we all start sending in oodles of cash, might I suggest we actually work out what motherboard and HSF we're going to buy and how much they cost?
• shadow boxershadow boxer The Finger Painter & Master Ranter
Suggestion summarily rejected Biggles... are you forgetting that we always have to fight to get cash to run this place... the leftovers I'm sure will go to a worthy cause... probably a Firstones related cause, and not just Sanfams gadget allowance..:)

Also... why the hell should Jack be the only one ? There are plenty of Firstones who live pretty close to the wind so to speak, why not keep the momentum we build up here and keep updating the machines of the FO's who need it. I bet there are quite a few FO's out there joining us on crap machines.

Our resources pooled could do some cool shit.

so fellas... keep it coming in... and like I said.. donate over 10 bucks... or ten bucks worth of puter parts and you have yourself wingart

Troy Maclure voice/ Thats a $199.99 value, what and incredible offer /TMV
• MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment
Well, Id happily send any spare part I have only...

I dont even have a working computer myself LMAO!

But on the other hand, my dads getting me parts from his old one, and hopefull Ill revive mine soon.

my 300W has kept my mobo, CPU, numerous fans, and Vidcard quite happy. (+ a number of other items...)

so 300W is plenty, now where was that chart that detailed out how much all the various PC items use...was a huge list, but very accurat and helpful.
• JackNJackN Lightwave Alien
Ok... 300 watt should work by popular vote, so I'll try and squeeze a donation from fellow workers on that one...

Standard ATX power supply right? Nothing special for the AMD?
• CurZCurZ Resident Hippy
Yup, standard ATX.
