Although, someone needs to set up a torrent for this. :)
Too bad the demo runs at an unplayably bad level for me :(
Minimum requirements is PIII 833 and a GeForce II...
ahuhhg...
I really like the fact that they have the same narrator as the first game. He has a really great voice and a great style. Unfortunately, I don't think that the fleet intelligence and fleet command actors are the same. Either that or they've really changed their style for the worse since the first game.
i like the fact that fighters are produced and controled in squadrons now, much easier to handle. i like the modular componant system as well. only complaint i have is that the gui buttons are a little small, but i suppose that's what hotkeys are for.
I agree about the GUI buttons, they are a tad on the small side. I didn't have much of a problem with it though, plus I always used the hotkeys in 1, and they came back to me really quickly this time.
I like the squadron thing, which you mentioned, a lot. But I found that now my fighters are less likely to break formation in a messy dogfight while the enemy ones are, which makes them a bit less flexible.
vs. CPU u can build:
scouts
intercepters
bombers
gunship corvettes
pulsar corvettes
torpedo frigates
flak gun frigates
ion cannon frigates
carriers
gun platfrom
ion cannon platform
resource collectors
mobile resource centers
probes
there are also quite a few research options... mostly limited to level 1 upgrades, such as armour and engines... there are 2 maps u can choose from, one 2 player and one 4 player... u can only play hiigaran vs. hiigaran tho.
[B]So I'm all ready with my PIII 800 and GeForce II GTS, finish downloading the demo today at work with the T1... Burn it to CD, get home...

hehe, in some countries the hardware is much more expensive than in the USA due to the tax and/or economy

I appreciate the notice, but the reason I was bichin, is because I don't have the $ to spare to get a faster machine right now. Even a $100 bill right now is VERY much out of my budget.
:( oh well...
Hey, has anybody else here who's tried the demo noticed the lack of anit-aliasing? or is it just me... (and my drivers...) ?
Cheers!
i don't think they built in they're graphics options into the game. But if you have a graphics card with extended options (radeon 9800 in my case) all you have to do is rev up the quality slider... but make sure to do this on the OpenGL side of the spectrum, not the direct3D side.. Homeworld2 (at least the demo, probably the game) is all OpenGL based, not Direct3D as are most games. when i did that i got beautiful antialiasing... JUST BEAUTIFUL!
