not sure how well it would dye, it depends entirely on what sort of fur its made from.
to my mind it should be made out of hide... kangaroo hide would be the best...
furry aardvarks ? I dont think so..:but it's cool none the less...
you can get nice high intensity LED's from your local electronics shop... thay would look great for eyes... they are nice and big too at about a 1/3 of an inch in dia, and you'd only need a small battery to power them.

And if you really want to impress your friends, hook up those LEDs to a 555 timer chip. They're easy to setup. All you need is a small breadboard, the chip, 1 9V battery and 6 4N4002 diodes (to knock down the voltage since the 555 timer only needs 5V...more than 6V and you burn the chip up). I can draw up a schematic for you if you want.

You might also need to add a resistor to each LED to reduce the current into the LEDs.

Make sure that with those LEDs you get the right voltage into them. Not enough and they won't be as bright as they can be. Too much and they'll go pop. Literally.
You might also need to add a resistor to each LED to reduce the current into the LEDs.

Yeah, a 220 Ohm resistor will do fine.
To build the circuit you'll need the following:
1x 39k ohm resistor
1x 56k ohm resistor
1x 220 ohm resistor1x 10µF electrolytic capacitor (the blue ones)
1x 555 Timer chip (8 pins)
1x small breadboard
1x LED rated at ~2V.
I'm still trying to find that diagram...

I remember building something a bit like that when I was 11 or 12...except it was a series of LEDs that would light left to right like the Cylons in Battlestar Galactica. That was a fun little project, 555 timer, 74LS193 logic chip and all.
Ok, there's a simple schematic. I can go into greater detail if you want.
R1 = 39k Ohm resistor
R2 = 56k Ohm resistor
Don't forget to hook up those 6 diodes (4n4002) in series on the breadboard between the actual 9V battery and the circuit itself.
(ie: the diodes would be hooked up in a chain between the source and pin 8 on the chip. The silver line (the N type material, which will not allow any DC voltage through.) MUST be facing towards pin 8. Like this: --|>|-- The vertical line on the right is the silver line.
Pin 3 is the actual output pin which will go to the two LEDs. You might want to solder wire to the two LEDs as it would look a bit strange with them just connected to the breadboard themselves.

See if you can put a chaser sequence in! You will need a counter for something like that though.

Depends on how many LEDs you want to use.

As I said, it would depend on how many LEDs you'd want to use simply due to the fact that a counter chip can handle only so many. Unless you hook them into a chain of NOT gates.
