in Zocalo v2.0
As part of the big pr blitz that is accompanying the release of Natural Selection version 2.0 an NS music video has been released. Its called boondock marines and is rap, but don't hold that against it. Very funny if you are a fan of the game, although I don't think you should show it to the kiddies. You can find the link to mirrors here. http://www.readyroom.org/

I wanted to get into that game, but it's too damned confusing for a simple TFC/CS fan such as myself. And what's with stealing the Commander thing layout from StarCraft?
There is a bit of a learning curve. Took me a couple rounds before I could kill anything. The commander mode is what makes the game different(and far better imho) than tfc and cs. The strategy gives you more of a goal than getting kills.
TFC's got all the teamwork-oriented action I need, as long as I can find a good server, and CS has... well, CS has bigger booms.
NS is the best mod, perhaps even best FPS, I have ever played. Hands down. Its just that damn good. Go play it. Now. Or, wait until 2.0 comes out in two days. Trust me, this mod is so much fun. Actually, its perhaps the most simply fun time I have had in a while while on the computer. No joke. I am being totally serious. Do yourself a service and download 2.0 when it comes out. Im sure there will be a flood of new people, so you wont stand out. Plus, now that I have a nice headset, I am going to have so much fun (using voice communication is so amazing when you have a good team, absolutely astounding- so much fun). Of course you get the idiot 12 year olds who scream into the mike for fun, but that is to be expected. In conclusion, I order you all to download this when it comes out and at least give it a shot. :)
Rhett is spot on. For those who have played it before, give 2.0 a shot as its a very different experience.
If you haven't played NS at all you don't know what you're missing. Only two games have held my attention as long as NS, and they are Half-life and freespace2. I've been playing this game and mostly only this game since December, and it has yet to get old.
Still waiting to see you on the server COFR, rhett. It is handsdown the best server. There was a possibility that it was going down a month or so ago. The head honcho of the whole mod donated all the donations that he recieved for one week to help keep it going. Its almost always full and you have to wait a bit to get in sometimes but its worth it. I only play there due to the great players and great admins. Cheating is not a problem, and annoying 12 year olds are few and far between(and don't last long when they show up). Besides being more fun, its a great server to play on to practice. Play on it for a month and then go back to some random pub. As a skulk you'll marvel at the marines bad aim, and as a marine you'll marvel at your own aim.
And yeah voice command is pretty cool. Sure beats trying to type out a warning that you have incoming when your staring the buggers in the face.
Well, problem is is that you've got to get everybody else using the same program. There's TeamSpeak and Roger Wilco, plus a few others I can't remember at the moment. Not to mention that you may not even have everybody playing on the server on the same voice server with you. I don't remember offhand how big Half-Life games can get (been a while since I played), but I've tried using TeamSpeak with Battlefield 1942 a couple of times. While it technically works fine, a lot of times there will be a good amount of people on the server that aren't using it, so you still can't talk to EVERYBODY with it.
Lennier, I know I know! :D Damn real life keeps sucking me away from the important things, like ns... ;)

Everyone uses the internal half-life voice comm. 20 players per server seems to be about the most balanced ns games.
As to the voice communication, I believe most people use the included Half-Life one.

Tsk, Tsk. Having higher priorities than NS. Shame on you. :)
Same here. I really loved the idea when I first heard about it, and got it as soon as it came out. Unfortunately, I never once managed to get on a server and after a few weeks I just gave up.
Why couldn't you get on a server?
Why couldn't you get on a server?
Well, after a week of spending anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour waiting to get on servers with a decent ping and people actually playing, I gave up.
Realism ???
huh ???
Bah
I live in NZ. The chances of "most" of the servers having a good ping are rather slim.
That could pose a problem, but I still order you. :D
MP only...

If you can find a good server where people work as a team and don't act like idiots, multiplayer is sweet sweet jesus heaven.
I remember I used to hate TFC, because it was so... dumb. Then, I joined a server one time because my CS server was down for whatever reason, and we were playing this map which was Attackers vs. Defenders. The Attackers rush out of this small hole and try and push the Defenders back, capturing Command Points along the way. Normally, this would result in nothing happening, because 99% of the Earth's population consists solely of stat whoring CS freaks, but this one kid got us all rushing, and we Attackers OWNED the hell out of everyone. It was sweet sweet multiplayer heaven to watch 15 teammates rushing out of a small hole alongside you as rockets, demo charges, grenades, and bullets came to meet you. We all died probably 30 times before we made it out of the hole, but after that we gained ground, and, as they say, the rest is history. Whenever I can find a good server, I give up my CS addiction to become obsessed with TFC all over again...
And that's my life's story.
