Weapons link - causes and workarounds

The irritating bug/problem with iMultiplay.LinkShipWeapons that crashes some player ships seems to be caused by multiple (real) beam weapons placed on a player ship. Also placing the imaging module on a ship seems to be problematic.

The workaround is simply to remove one beam weapon from all player ships that have two beams. This way we can get most ships working in a somewhat reasonable manner. Only ships whose armament consists of primarily beam weapons must be used as before. It might be possible having two beams working separately and all pulse weapons (of the same type) as linked.

So far, I've only made the omega weplink compatible, I think the rest of the ships can be made to work in the same fashion. Beam turrets don't seem to be cause problems (except for the explosion bug that was fixed by upping the hit points).

This leaves Sharlin, Drakh cruiser and Nial (which can't be used as a fighter anyway). I'll post more if there are new developments.

    So this had nothing to do with nps turrets then? Only thing is that how you could have multiple beams in I-War 2 campaign linked.

    -- How you do this because linking function works to all weapons at same time.

    Well, the link works only with weapons of the same type, so you make make right beam weapon and left beam weapon that are different weapons, yet have the same stats and damage. However, I don't know if there is anything you can gain from this. It just means there is one more click you have to make when changing weapons.
