Not too bright, either way.
I take it he peed on a cop?

he spit to a cop
yea, cops were afraid they'd get aids if HIV infected people threw blood, etc.... on them, so they made it a law saying u couldn't throw bodily fluids on a law enforcement officer.... and i'm sure they didn't mean a ::spit:: on a cop, but some overzealous prosecutor probably got the case and is following the letter of the law and not the spirit of the law and they convicted him and gave him life in prison... i'm sure he'll appeal.
Actually, its always been illegal to spit on a cop, It's considered assault on a police officer, and its just as bad as if you hit him in the face.
I doubt that this sentence was for just spitting on the cop UNLESS the guy knowingly had HIV.

but arest him lifeklong. is that not a little extreme?
Even then - He still has an appeal so let's not be so quick to freak out over it all. He's getting due process.
IMHO He's a thug with no respect for law enforcement - He's done things before - he didn't learn - he'll do it again - I say put him away - might save a life or two or three...
Better yet deport him - some one else can have him if another country thinks we are being to harsh. :D Less taxes I have to pay to keep that sorry POS alive.
You know, I could see a rough version of the prison hierarchy going over, with the armed robbers on top since they have muscle but also a kind of moral authority, and them beating on the child molesters and wife beaters.
and there was a movie based on that idea..can't remember the name....
It has been done - It was called Australia. hehehe :D
Naw, Australia was too nice. So was Devil's Island. No, it should be someplace in the middle of the ocean, small enough to be easily quarentined, but big enough to hold the convicts.
Not sure if I agree with the whol e sentence, but he was also guilty of beating his wife.
No, he was not guilty of beating his wife. He wasn't convicted of that.

Right you are. I stand corrected.

Is standing room only ok?
Remember, part of the point is to see what kind of society would be created by people who view ours with contempt.
"Cruel and unusual punishment"
Now, if you offered that as an alternative sentence, it might pass the higher courts.
Of course, this would only work for life (death?) sentences since any parolees would most likely be significant threats to society.
Right you are. I stand corrected.
But... You're a monkey, you can't stand erected! :p
Escape from New York
Escape from L.A.
etc.

Au contrair, we only choose to take a more relaxed stance. When we desire to, or when threatened, we can make quite an impressive standing display.
Personnally, we find the knuckle-walking stances cooler. :D
