Just saw it, LOVED IT. it was surprisingly good compared to other sequeals just released (cough cough matrix cough). The action might have been a bit over the top at times, but nontheless entertaining. it flowed well, you didn't want to say... god how long have i been sitting here... nor did u want to say, god it wasn't long enough! the CGI i thought was excellent. I didn't even think ONCE about anything BEING CGI, so that to me means it was done very well. there were a few cheesy lines, but many of the "funnies" were actually FUNNY. The performances were EXCELLENT. especially the female terminator. Not to give anything away, but the way she portrayed her character was EXCELLENT. And i liked the end of the movie as well. (without going into details)
There was a maroon or burgundy late 70's/early 80's Oldsmobile Cutlass (Possibly a buick somethingorother) that was hit by the crane truck in the rear, shattering the tail light...
Just a few shots earlier, though, was the very same car, with the exact same damage and color, (and with the Hazard Lights on) being passed by the infected police and medical vehicles before being hit by the crane truck.
It's obviously a minor editing glitch, but the continuity breach really didn't do much to upset the film, so it's not much to go on about.
I'm with Rick on T3. Okay I admit that I have a huge personal bias in favor of James Camerson. T3 Doesn't amount to much more than a flash-bang trailer for the inevitable T4. The "surprise" ending would have been poignant had it been played/explained differently.. as is it had me rolling my eyes and thinking "just how stupid am I supposed to be?"

On a side note, the scene where the computers were shut down and Skynet took over reminds me a bit of a scene from the console anime-rpg game Xenogears. In the opening sequence there's a starship being subverted by a malicious computer virus. Once the virus has control, all the bridge monitors go blank and are replaced by this message:
YE SHALL BE AS GODS YE SHALL BE AS GODS YE SHALL BE AS GODS YE SHALL BE AS GODS YE SHALL BE AS GODS YE SHALL BE AS GODS YE SHALL BE AS GODS YE SHALL BE AS GODS YE SHALL BE AS GODS YE SHALL BE AS GODS YE SHALL BE AS GODS YE SHALL BE AS GODS YE SHALL BE AS GODS YE SHALL BE AS GODS...
It would have been chilling, if a bit implausable, for Skynet to broadcast something like this on the base monitors:
NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE NO FATE
Well you get the idea ;)
Biggles<font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
I've wanted to play Xenogears for a very long time, but they never released it in a PAL version and, alas, I don't have a modchip and can't find someone around here to sell and install one.
I did. But in a ceribral way. I thought that Agent Smith fight was a bit over the top and too long. after about 15 seconds, you could easily tell Keaneu and Smith were CGI. Fabric and motion wasn't quite....natural.
The original Matrix film was better, though.

Biggles<font color=#AAFFAA>The Man Without a Face</font>
I didn't really like the action scenes of it that much, and that damn music video scene was horrible and so out of place. I liked the thinking stuff though, especially the scene with the architect at the end.
That one monitor with Keaneu flipping out and "double-birding" the viewer will forever be on my "top ten list of things I nearly passed out laughing from."
Also of note, at one late, late, old showing, someone started singing a traditional chicken song "I feel like chicken tonight" and such, while watching that scene :D
Damnit, they had to choose someone who looks like the Cnl :D

Fortunately for me, I do not live in a KFC saturated culture so that reference didn't occur to me until I saw the movie the second time. :D

Actually, I was told that the Architect was played by the philosopher that inspired allot of the story (his name escapes me, I'll edit it in later whenI find it).
He just happened to have the CS thing going for him ;)
"After a quick search proved that the U-boat was completely deserted, the U.S. crew rapidly gathered up charts, code books, technical publications, and two Enigma decoding machines, disconnected demolition charges, and closed scuttling valves to stop the boat’s sinking. The capture of the codebooks from the U-505 enabled American cryptanalysts to break the special map coordinate code in enciphered German messages and determine more precise locations for U-boat operating areas. The capture also allowed the Allies to resume real-time decoding of German submarine radio messages."
Two small problems with that- 1) each U boat only had one enigma machine (IIRC- to be fair it might have been carrying a spare if it had been at sea for a long time, which brings me onto point 2) 2) All U-Boats were recalled when D-Day commenced to attack the craft supporting the landings. Now it could have been that it had been on long range patrol and was returning when it was captured.
One thing I am sure of though is that the intelligence value of the capture was quite negligable since the team at Station-X (otherwise known as Bletchly Park) had already been breaking the codes on a regular basis. The capture might have sped the process up, but it was not as important as the first capture by any means, and by this time the Naval war vs Germany was nearly over- when the ports in France the U-Boats were operating out of fell, their operational range was drastically reduced as was their effectiveness as the war cam towards its end.
Back to the Matrix... has anyone noticed that when the Architect is talking about war a BIG picture of Bush appears on the moniters for a fraction of a second?

Anyone notice that the T1-8 looks a LOT like a Vorlon???
And how about the prototype Hunter Killer? Looks a LOT like certain unnammed robots in Descent II...
:D

I saw it yesterday. Overall, I didn't really like it that much. I didn't like what it did to the ideas from the first two, but that's another matter. I just found it a tad boring in some parts. The crane chase could have been shorter. The first half of the movie felt like lots of action with no real reason. The second half was definitely better.
I can't remember who said it, but I agree with the person who said it was basically like fan fiction.
Comments
It was simply astounding.
