Lets boycott the RIAA.

I've got nothing better to do, and we seem to be slowing down...

so lets boycott the RIAA! :)

Just send them an e-mail (I'd suggest using an e-mail addy not traceable to yourself, just in case) telling them that until they shape up and relize that p2p helps sales, that you will boycott them and only download music, and if you like it, will send 20$ to the band itself, rather then give ANY music to them.

Therefor, they cannot say you are stealing music, because you actually paid it to the source of the music. :)

*Goes to download some Coldplay* :D :D :D

Well I have not bought a CD in the last few weeks...

Although I was really wanting to get that Pink single...

I can put that off, though.

I suggest we all go indie. There's quite a few good bands that are not RIAA controlled.

Well, before the RIAA began annoying me wiht its antics, I would buy music from artists I liked, i.e Garbage, Soulwax, Pink, Prodigy, Cake, etc.

Now...things have changed. But if the band is not associated with the RIAA (or tries to distance themselves), I will buy a CD. I've bought one CD from a band I used to listen to by having them send me a copy direct from them for $5 paypal, though. That's what more bands should do...

I've bought hardly any music from the RIAA, most of it I don't consider to be worth the exhorbitant cost that the RIAA expects. I think I've bought about 5 CDs in total in my whole life. I've got many more CDs than that from other companies that arn't part of the RIAA.

I buy only music from bands that don't got a contract deal with anyone so I allways know that none of my money will go to a corporation of some sort!

Done! Radio and live concerts for me only until CD prices come down.

If I were ever to download a song it would only be if there was no way to get the music here. eg - some european music that isn't stateside - Any other popular music I'll just listen to the radio. I'm done buying $20 or more CD's forever.

I think the recording industry did get greedy - and the prices were crazy - however I also think some downloaders and sharers have taken it to far. Instead of comming up with a reasonable solution like $1 per song downloads like imusic or whatever it's called they have stooped to the same level as the RIAA and are common theives. Plain and simple. It's true that the RIAA are criminals - however you stoop to thier level when you take it to far the other direction.

I'm not defending the RIAA but tell me how downloading a song illigally is any different than shoplifting?

It isn't. No matter how you try to twist it, it's no different. If you haven't paid for it, you don't have the right to possess it. I'm not defending the RIAA either, but that's just the stone cold fact.

On the topic of a boycott, if you want to, go ahead, but don't expect the RIAA to come crashing down because of it.
