My latest toy!

Well, I've been looking around for a decent mp3 player that reads CDs lately, and I've finally picked me up one! :)

I was going to nab myself a Panasonic SL-MP70 (for $59.95) at Best Buy when I noticed they got a Sony player in...and it was actually UNDER $100 (and therefore within my budget guideline). It went well over the Panasonic in battery life, and had every feature and more! Even a remote control so I don't have to look at the thing and drive at the same time! (BIG plus!) All for $79.95! It even included the car-kit! (none of the others did)

This thing RULES! :)

I've been Eyeballin' that new Sony MP3 Player that has 256 Megs of RAM, has a built in AM/FM receiver, and can use the RAM as a USB FLASH Drive and store any file format that you want...

Now THAT's a sweet piece of Gadgetry!

Here's mine, a Mapletree Audio Ear+ vacuum tube headphone amp. This thing sounds sweet, detail, punch and smoothness all at the same time.

    Edit
    Hosting died, let's try this.

My SONY D-CJ500 MP3/CD player works great! I don't know if its the same one you got vertigo (your link wasn't workin for me). It's got a great sound and the bass boost (which has really stunk on all of my other portable cd players) is actually worth while in this player. I think I've dropped it a couple times - once while I was running and it's never skipped yet. Sony's well worth the price.

You guys with portables might want to look into these.

Koss PortaPros, the best headphones under 50$, they'll make you wonder how you put up with those phones that came with the player for so long.

Yeah, Sony updated their website the day after I posted this thread. Unfortunately, the URL tag can't handle the new link. Its also so damned long that it'll cause everyone to scroll horizontally, which is why I haven't fixed it.

    I've got the D-NE518CK.

Not at all. Since the end of the cold war the Russian tube factories have been pumping out some fine ones, which has brought about a resurgence of tube based audio equipment. Which has allowed US factories to start up their old prouduction.

They're coming down in price, for the most part. Some tubes will always be pricey because of what has to go into them, like the 300b, they can go for 900$ for a matched set.

How about 6KD6 and other TV output tubes?

Make great Grounded Grid finals for Linear Amps... :D
  • I had an MP3 player by Creative, one of the 10 GB Jukeboxes. Got it when Best Buy had it on sale for $99.

But it broke, and I'm still waiting for it to come back from Creative :(. Fortunatelly my mom's Visa doubled the warranty.

If only those 4GB CF cards were out, and they cost 1/100 of what they're going to...then I could turn my Dell Axim into an MP3 player replacement!
