Spacecraft simulator

Just stumbled over this one: Orbiter - a spacecraft simulator.

Complete with correct physics, orbital dynamics (complete solar system included) and decent graphics - and its free! But beware, this ones got a steep learning cliff - I just played around for a while, and all I managed was to either a) crash my ship into a station/ship when docking b) crash my ship into the ground or c) get completely lost, with no idea how to find myself again  - but its fun. Its also seems that you can build and add your own ships to it - vorklifts anyone? :)

This was posted a couple of years ago. I really should check out how it's going now. :) In the last version I played, you couldn't crash into stations because you just flew right through them. :)

Well, you still float through the stations/ships... with crashing I just meant that.

WOW!! I didn't know this was posible!
OK! I got into orbit, but when I accelerated time the ship started going back to Earth so I lunched my main engines att full forgettting time acceleration. Now my ship was on it's way out to the universe with a spin. I accelerated time a little more and soon Earth was really small and 10 sec later I almost crashed into Earth. So my ship had a really big oval orbit!
    Fun game BTW!!

Try flying to the Sun. That's quite fun. :)

I actually was quite annoyed at how my ship begins to "wobble" at some point and I get thrown off course. heh. I once got into orbit of the sun with a multi-stage rocket, though. It was really nifty.

I tried drawing it out on paper, and it worked damn well. :P

Fired off from earth, flew up, up, and then towards the sun. Outwards a bit, dropping off two stages (one as I left earth, one as I left earth orbit). Accelerated time, floated towards the sun for a few hours.
nudged to the right side of the sun, used up half the fuel for that stage.

Came close to sun, was moving too fast, so I flipped around, fired off the remainder of that stage, and apparently hit orbit by accident. :P

I left the computer for a day, came back to find I was still in orbit. so, I found earth, shot off in its general direction, and then found I was one stage short and ended up crashing into the planet. oops.
