Is anyone else hooked on anti-aliased fonts?

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but after the anti-aliased fonts in Linux and XP's ClearType, I can't stand to look at regular, jagged fonts.. they're so.. jagged :p

yea, wonderful thing. :)
oh... and buy a Mac... they STILL rock very hard when it comes to Typography...
Rhett: Control Panel>Display>Appearance>Effects>Something or other about font appearance.
Thats what I must be! I just reformatted and now the fonts look like crap. How exactly do you turn them on (I'm on XP Home)
Display properties -> Appearance -> Effects -> second item from the top, check the box and select ClearType from the drop-down menu.
Especially if you're using an LCD monitor. Thats where it REALLY shines.
I use them in both XP and Mandrake 9.1. They look so nice. :) I think the Mandrake 9.1 ones look better.
Ah... Mandrake 9.1 such a nice distribution!!! :D
Server has been runing flawlessly for 3 days now and firewall to boot!
:)
Never mind- it didnt fix my problems. Everything still looks kinda blured. I cant really explain it. Anyone have any suggestions?
Your monitor is out of focus?
If you feel like adjusting it, simply unplug the monitor, take the back off, and adjust the small focus knob you find inside. And be careful not to touch anything else or it'll zap you like a Vorlon!
If you think it was the format that did it, perform another one. :)

Or you can simply use a long screwdriver to discharge the tube.

I think that's *really* bad advice. The charge in the tube can be *incredibly* high. a long screwdriver wouldn't be the safe way to do it.

Actually Sanfam, that IS how it's done...
Long Screwdriver, and an even longer aligator clip wire to ground...
;)
I've just been zapped one too many times to attempt that myself, I guess... :P

Dude, how do you think its done in TV repair shops?
So how do I do this if I can't open up the back of the monitor (there is no way that I have found)?
There should be screws all around the outside track of the back of the monitor. Atleast 4 - 6 screws total. You may have to remove the screws holding your monitor's power supply to the case as well. (usually just two) Then give it a good yank and it should come right off.
Make sure the screen is facing the ground when you do this.
