RhettRhett (Not even a monkey)
Well, I had my wisdom teeth taken out monday. Wasnt too bad, but now I look like a chipmunk that lost a fistfight :D The good part of this was I finally got to watch the whole first season on DVD. Now I want the second season. Just thought I would post something meaningless here. :)

• Were you awake? I was when they did mine, disturbing but kind of cool. I had three teeth that were impacted and under the gum, the fourth was exposed and normal. I just about passed out after they did the third because I started staring at the suction tube that was sucking out copious amounts of blood.

I'll never forget the cracking noise the teeth made as they were broken in half and they proceeded to pick out the pieces of root. The cutting of the gums to expose the teeth and the injection of local numbing agents into the top-inside of my jaw wasn't all that pleasant either. I'm glad I did it awake because I was back on my feet minutes after the procedure and I get to talk/brag about it. ;)

Really? They just gave me novicane and laughing gas for mine. I was bored so I took a nap the whole time! I stop bleeding that day and had very little swelling.

Mine will probably be coming out at the end of this year. 3 of them appear to be fine, but one is almost certainly impacted. And I intend to be very much asleep for the whole proceedure. I don't care about being able to brag about staying awake while people rip bits of bone out of my mouth. I'm more interested in minimising pain and mental disturbance.

I dont have wisdom teeth, never had, never will. They checked for them when I was gonna operate my jaw a couple of years ago, and I dont have those genes I guess :p

I only had 1 wisdom tooth. Never had and never will have the other 3. Genetics. Odd things.

No problems getting mine out.... They gave me some type of 'twilight sleep' IV - and all I can remember about it was, right after they started applying the IV, I asked if they waited for it to take effect before they started... and lol... it kicked in and I don't remember his answer to my question.

I was totally awake- just had the pain meds shot into me. I almost napped through the whole thing- just closed my eyes and relaxed. Listened to the music of the saws working on my teeth :D I didnt want any laughing gas becuase I didnt think I needed it (I wasnt very nervous). It wasnt that bad- except for the odd times when I felt little drops of something hitting my forehead...

And what are you insinuating? ;)

The funny thing is- because you are so friggin numb (I mean you feel absolutely nothing) they could be doing anything. For all you know they could remove your tongue as well as all of your teeth. And you wouldnt feel a damn thing. The next day, however... :D

Yes, but there is a very big difference between being numb and still seeing them working and feeling the collateral effects and hearing the tools, and going to sleep and waking up later. Both cases have pain after, but one misses out a lot of psycological pain during. :)

Yeah! I would go with the super sleeping gas! I hate it when I go to the dentist and they one of my teeth needs filling. To get the filling in the tooth the dentist must make the whole bigger. I've never seen how they do it but it feels like they rip peases of the tooth off. The litle crackling noise gets me really nerveus and when the the dentist's assistent say something like "Ouch, I really hate when thet happens" I get even more nerveus!

I had to have my wisdom teeth surgically removed last year, around September. They were growing inward towards the center of my mouth and an angle. I was on so many drugs that I was out of it for about 4 days before they wore off. Wal-Mart parking lot was FUN. I was trying to find a spot (meeting my mom and grandma for lunch) and I kept going around and around and around the lot, like it was a ride. :D
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
I want those drugs too. :)

Trust me, I had fun with those for the next week or so because of the teeth. But I don't think that elderly couple will ever come back to Wal-Mart ;)

I had 4 Wisdom Teeth, 1 was impacted, the other 2 very close to being...

They took the 3 out.

The process was quite easy (for me anyway...) I simply had to have my wife drive me back from the operation.

They started a Valium drip, and then kicked in the good stuff...

I remember feeling a great relaxation feeling flow across my body, and the guy asked me to count backwards from 10. I never got to 10...

;)

The next thing I remember was being in a wheel chair wondering why they hadn't started the operation yet... hahahaha... Then I realized it was already over... :D

Heh. I got mine out right before I turned 16. My local dentist did mine and all 4 of them were impacted. They weren't bad enough to warrant an oral surgeon to perform the operation. :P

Anyhow, I had all 4 out in less than 30 minutes. I just had the basic pain blocking medicine injected straight into my gums. It wasn't the usual stuff you get, but something a little stronger. My dentist and I carried on a conversation between the drillings. :P Wasn't painful at all.

About 5 hours later, the bleeding stopped and my jaw didn't swell at all. 1 week later I went back to get the stitches out.

Hehe. Guess I was lucky.
