The Meaning of Liff
A2597
Fanboy
in Zocalo v2.0
(David of Mac posted this at Beyond Bayblon, fun fun!)
The Meaning of Liff (and it's sequel, The Deeper Meaning of Liff) was a book co-authored by Doug Adams (writer of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) which game out of a game he and a few friends invented while they were drunk.
Baiscally, you would name a small, obscure town, and the next person would decide what it would mean if it were a word, then would pick another town, and so on.
My favorite was that "Woking" turned out to be that feeling you get when you go in the kitchen (or anywhere, really) and forget what you came to get, and your standing around feeling confused, annoyed, and slightly stupid.
So, basically, let's do the same thing, except we keep the definitions related to this Board, and Beyond Babylon at large. Feel free to put your new word in a sentence, and remember: you are under no obligation to spell the town correctly. A decent sound-alike is fine. Here's an example:
Kissimmee: The feeling you get when you're on the board after dark, and see someone who you know is a few time zones ahead of you is also on the board, meaning they're checking it sometime around local midnight, as opposed to, say, sleeping.
I noticed John Sheridan was in the active users list, and after a little mental arithmitic, felt kissimmee that he was up that late.
to get things rolling:
"Wacahoota"
