I still say Grave of the Fireflies is sadder.
The reason you seem to like depressing movies is because you obviously like character stories (at least in general). Depressing movies, by nature, are generally character movies.

I can hear the wedding bells ringing already...

But yes, most of the movies that can be classified as masterpieces are depressing on some level... but those wouldn't be masterpieces if there were no cheerful ideas beside the depressing ones.

My all-time Top 10 would probably be:
    1. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
    2. Once Upon A Time In The West (1968)
    3. Pulp Fiction (1994)
    4. Star Wars (1977)
    5. Raiders of The Lost Ark (1981)
    6. The Matrix (1999)
    7. The Good, The Bad And The Ugly (1966)
    8. Apocalypse Now (1979)
    9. Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
    10. A Clockwork Orange (1971)
