So, Anyone got Freelancer yet?
Entil'Zha
I see famous people
in Zocalo v2.0
Any of you guys get Freelancer yet? I've got it, So far it seems pretty fun, Much better than Starlancer, However, Starlancer's space combat was much better, Flying a spaceship with a mouse is pretty lame, Joystick support would have been nice.
And from what i gather, its graphics requirements are steep, I know a couple people with lower end cards who've had big problems, i just picked up a GeForce4 before getting it, so i hadn't seen the probelm. it runs nice on my 64 meg GeForce4 Mx on an athlon 850 (running at 950) with 384 megs of ram.

I love the mouse control; I think Digital Anvil did a great job implementing it. Completely leaving out joystick support was a weird decision, but mouse control works so well, I don't think it's a problem.
I have yet to play online -- I've heard there are plenty of multiplayer cheats -- but I'm enjoying the single player story.
Skip cutscenes with the escape key.
During the cutscenes, i hit escape many times, nothin happens
Maybe i'm not being clear, i'm talking about some of the ingame stuff, not necacerily cutscenes, like when Trent is talking to the bartender at the beginning, i already went through that in the demo, so i just wanted to skip it, and it wouldn't let me.
maybe i'm just not far enough into it.
Or maybe, like the rabbit, i should just put a pancake on my head
lol, my rabbit is famous!
Did you make that rabbit? or did you find it? Cause i think its just the funniest thing i've seen since http://www.ilikemonkeys.org
I've been able to skip all cutscenes except for the small ones showing me entering and leaving a planet or station.
multiplayer cheats are kinda possible... the problem is, that FL uses some of the files on the client side for getting Prices of stuff... also, you can freeze the money clientside, buy stuff, unfreeze the money, and sell it again, wich raises the money on the server...
but many server-admins watch the accounts, and if someone is cheating, his account will be deleted quite fast and, if he continues cheating, banned..
AFAIK, the issue has been brought to DA's attention, so if the game sells well (wich it should), then there's the possibility for a patch...
Hey, this might be a little too late, and it's probably been discussed before... but I'm wondering.... Does the game OFFICIALLY end after mission 13? Once you've sent the NOMANDS back to wherever they came from, inside the Dicon's Sphere?
I keep gaining levels (Lvl 32 already, w/ Titan, and working for and living with the CORSAIRS in Ommicron Gamma), but the next mission never activates. My worth goes higher than the next level requirement. Sometimes the next lvl req. says: "Mission", but the next "story mission" never activates.
So am I doing something wrong? Or are there simply just no more story missions?
Or do I have to reach a certain level before I can continue the story again?

P.S. If this HAS been discussed, sorry to bring it up again. I couldn't find anything on this SPECIFICALLY.... nor did I really feel like reading 50+ threads, that had FREELANCER in it. :-D
Are you SURE about that? I dunno, it doesn't seem finished to me. It's open-ended. Why did Orillion say he'll get back in touch with you? And why did he ask you to be his "eyes and ears" in Liberty? And WTF!?!?!? I thought I'd get to sleep with Juni... but no dice! She said she asked about me in the bar, at the beginning, and then winked..... but c'mon!!! I wanted Trent to kiss her at least or something! lol
I thought they'd 'get together' later in the game. And what the heck happened to that Von Eissler (whatever his name is) dude? In the personal journal, it said he dissappeared.... and is presumed dead. However, a man like that DOESN'T just disappear.
Also, the Order is watching that alien jumpgate inside the Dicen's Sphere.... So I thought that was hint that something will happen later on. (Maybe some Nomads will come thru and attack)
Or perhaps, the order would gather up all it's forces and launch an offensive INTO the gate, and explore the other side, and try to prevent anything hostile from treatenning Sirius.
Anyway... I dunno, I guess I Was just expecting too much. Hmm... Maybe they left it open to make an expansion pack or something. *Shrug*

I was however thinking of getting Freelancer, but NO JOYSTICK!?!? What the hell were they thinking??

as for no joystick: it kinda works... I was a big sceptic too..
much as I hate to admit it, the mouse flying actually works
TWO :
suprisingly it ran well on my laptop with only 256mb of RAM, though it was a 1.2ghz Duron
THREE :
Ive never played a more 'ready for add-on/sequel' game. The plot missions sucked in terms of story depth and far too few in number. The single player missions just arent up to scratch. Forgive my cynisism but Freelancer is just the opening stanza of a much longer song.. which we'll pay for a couple times over.
Yeah, I thought the single player (bar) missions (NOT the story missions) were a little bit repetetitive. They need to add some more things to that, to make it more interesting.
Currently, your avarage bar offers missions in 3 basic favors: Ambush, Assassination, and Assualt.
The first one, Ambush, being your standard "house cleaning" mission. You just fly to a waypoint and killing everything there that isn't on friendly terms with you.
Number two, Assassination, requires to kill a SPECIFIC target. (In capture/retrieve mode, you'll have to tractor an escape pod or cargo.) It is not neccessary to kill ALL the other enemy ships here.
And finally, we have Assualt. You'll have to take out an enemy structure or structures, at the specified location. There may or may not be enemy ships present. (Which you don't have to always kill.)
For all 3 mission types, there may or my not be back-up offered. Usually, when there IS backup, the reward isn't as great.
So, they DEFINATELY need to offer a better range of missions.... like say for example: Reconnisance, Escort (would be kinda cool flying around in formation, with a frieghter/transport from one base, thru all the tradelanes/jumpgates to another base), Base defense, CAP (Combat Air Patrol, but in SPACE), and maybe an assualt on something a little LARGER than just fighters! hehehe... Would be kinda fun having to take on a fleet of battleships, or something... maybe a huge battlestation. You and your wing are required to go in and take out the defense turrets or whatever, while another wing of bombers make a bombing run on the target.
Anyway..... would be fun. Too bad it ain't in the game, tho. :-\

So.... how to join?
Or is it a PRIVATE thing, no outsiders allowed? :D

you start with 2000 credits, a starflier, and two weapons/sheild/thruster. work your way up, form groups, have fun!
I've found a way to get to level 32 with a titain+lvl10 guns in about 2 hours. its RISKEY, let me tell you. Because if you mess up, you lost EVERYTHING. mainly in involves carting cardamine and Alien Artifacts around manhattain. I can care less about the cops, its the 30K fun through Rouge territory with guys trying to hijack your cargo that gets me....
I'm cool though, I just found a slightly longer run that nets 30K with 20 cargo round trip. not NEAR as good, but good enough until I buy a cargo ship with ~100 cargo, then make SERIOUS cash, buy a barricuda and head to Omicron Gamma to get myself a nice Titain, then go kill me some Nomads and steal their guns!
800 hull damage and 0 energy drain! MUAHAHA!!!
No....
Why.
Its costs $60 CDN, ANd thats a fucking Rip Off. They seem to tink everone is rich.
