I'm using an Audigy 2 on a 5.1 500 watt receiver with a 15" 120watt sub.....and personally i've never seen (heard) an onboard soundcard that can even come close to what an add in card can do.

Ah, Bekenn, so you're one of those people, as well. :-)

I love my Klipsch speakers, but think the current batch are just too damn expensive.

It's a bummer that they have to cost as much as they do, and that companies like Logitech are upstaging them with the r Z-680's. :p

heh, so would this be a bad time to mention that I'm running my comp off of 4 200W speakers? ;) Gotta love headphone -> 2 RCA cables. :D I have the windows rattling on level 7....out of 36! :D

Those things are funny.
"Computer passes power on self test."
Yes, I can see that.
"Computer now booting from operating system."
I'm not blind you know.

But you have no eyes!!?

Well, it was quite useful when I first added the motherboard, new processor, and new memory to the system. Nothing on the monitor, but I could hear this:

"System failed memory test."

After finding the bad module and removing it:

"CPU fan fail."

Rather helpful, these two messages....

After I got everything running, I simply moved the speakers to the Audigy instead of the onboard sound, and disabled onboard sound in the BIOS, so I don't have to hear "System passed power-on self test. Now booting from operating system" every time I start up.

Heh, sounds like that'll be annoying as hell for those that watercool....

How so? I think it'd be great. :-)

Or, in my case, where I have the CPU fan plugged into the power supply.

Actually, I am about to set up a watercooling solution; I'm just waiting on the radiator to arrive. Since the radiator will have two 80mm fans on it (I already have a spot in my case for two side-by-side 80mm fans, so I shouldn't need to drill new holes to mount the radiator), I'll simply use a y-connector to attach those to the CPU fan header on the motherboard. No problems.

Sweet!

Just make sure and put some cooking oil on the inlet and outlet of the radiator incase you have to remove the hose. Otherwise it'll stick and it'll be a real bitch to get off. Tore two hoses like that.

I'm using laboratory grade tygon tubing; very inert. I don't think that'll be a problem, and besides, I'd much rather have it refuse to come off than have it come off some time when I don't want it to. I'll probably be getting those plastic zip-ties to help hold the tygon in place, although my tests so far suggest that it holds to the ribbed connectors fairly snugly.
• Vertigo1Vertigo1 Official Fuzzy Dice of FirstOnes.com
Ohhh boy, you're making the same mistake I did. Don't even BOTHER to use zipties. They don't provide a proper seal, trust me on that. Drop by Wal-Mart and buy some clamps instead. I nearly fried my GF3 because of those damn zipties. :p
• BekennBekenn Sinclair's Duck
They sell 'em at Wal-Mart, eh? I'll have to remember that.

Hmm... what with Wal-Mart getting into the used-car business, it's getting to the point where you could probably go to just Wal-Mart and Fry's in order to get anything you want.

Not that I'd suggest that, mind you, but from a purely analytical standpoint, it's possible.
