need some help w/ graphics card

Well, I finally got myself a shiny new computer, and so far I´m really pleased with its performance. But once thing is nagging me: I picked up UT2003, and wanted to give the editor a try - it turns out that I can´t use the right mouse button within it (which makes the program pretty much useless). A search on some related forums shows that it seems that AntiAliasing seems to be the culprit. But, and here´s my question for the resident hardware specialists, I got a Radeon 9700 Pro, and ATI in their infinite wisdom did not include an option to turn AA completely off  ... so, is there a way to deactive AA, or am I just stuck here? Any help is appreciated...

I´m running WinXP Pro SP1, DX9, ATI Catalyst 3.1

I'd love a Ti, but i just can't bring myself to spend that much on a video card, so i'm prolly going to get an MX-440 or an MX-420, either one will be better than the GeForce256 that i've got in this machine now.
• RubberEagleRubberEagle What's a rubber eagle used for, anyway?
I have a similar setup, and i can use the right mouse button with anti-aliasing..
have you maybe given the rmb a special function in the windows settings?

well, I managed to get it to work... deinstalled and reinstalled the card drivers, and now it works fine - beats me what was the problem here, the version of the drivers I had installed were the same as those I downloaded and installed. Thanks for your help, though.

SUPER!!
• Nice card ;)

If you run at 1024 or over, things look better with anisotropic filtering(AF) anyway IMO, especially at distance since the jaggies start getting too small to be much of a problem, and ATI's take a very small performance hit with AF.

Get a Ti4200. The card ROCKS. I got 10500 3dmarks when it was coupled with a 2000+. The Ti4600 with a 2200+ merely scored 11500.

The Ti4200 is also newer then the 44 and 46. It has more features and such, and the [h]ard|ware is more betterer. Get an MSI one with 128 megs of ram, and you are set for a while.
• ? more features? I question that..they aren't really newer either, they just the "low" end of the silicon.

BUT, price to performance ratio on those is GREAT, my roomate has one (I have a 4600), and it's amazing how well it does considering how much they don't cost.

The gf4 mxs are nothing more than faster geforce 2s...no DX8 shaders or anything, they are POO IMO.

They are more feature filled. They are roughly 2 months more advanced the then Ti 4600, and 1 month(s) more advanced the then Ti 4400. Hold on whilst I dig up pr00f.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
Provide said proof, or you will be forever mocked!
• I cannot bloody find anything! I googled for quite a while, but I am absolutely certain. E-Mail nvidia or something :p

Ti- 4200 doesn't have more features than ti- 4400/4600. ti-4200 is even slower than 4400/4600! The only way ti-4200 can have more features is if you count AGP 8x as a feature, but there are also AGP 8x versions of the other cards.

I would say buy a ti-4200 instead of MX and if your motherboard doesn't suport AGP 8x it's useless to buy the 8x version of ti-4200!
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
All AGP 8x versions of the GF4 cards are called Ti4800s. The Ti4400 equivalent is the Ti4800SE, the Ti4600 equivalent is the Ti4800. I cant remember what the Ti4200 equivalent is called.

It's slower because it's lower on the model end, its supposed to be slower. If you look at a chart which shows you a detailed comparison between the cards, you will see it. And no, i'm not talking about the 8X models, i'm talking about the original ones.

Biggles! I know the ti-4400/4600 are called ti-4800/SE.
The ti-4200 AGP 8x version is called GeForce4_Ti 4200 w/ AGP 8X! If you do not beleave me go to www.nvidia.com.

OK stacman! here's a quote from Tom's Hardware
Aside from the lower clock speeds and the changed layout, there are no differences between the Ti4200 and the other Ti models.
!!
There you have!
• heh, AA totally nerfs just about every 3D program I've tried. (Meaning Ued, Blender, and 3DExploration....)

The ****? OK, I standdown my argument. I'm still convinced it's true though. I read it so many times from so many people when the card was juuust coming out.

But if you tell other people something then, give them the right fact! :p
