DirectX/Gaming Book

I was in Best Buy yesterday. I saw a book on DirectX and Gaming.

How good does anyone think that would be to have in the library?

I also saw a book at CompUSA concerning OpenGL stuff...

I don't really intend to become a hard core programmer, but...

    I'll ask another question: how low level do you want to be? Are you interested in creating worlds with existing tools, or creating engines? If the former, there are several available (including Java 3D), if the latter, then books of this tye would probably be of use.
