• you asked....

OpenGL compatibility
With extensive testing, both internal in NaN and using a test-lab in Belgium, we mapped out the graphics compatibility of Blender. This has resulted in a very nice test report, which will be posted as an article on the front page of www.blender.nl. Most important results are:
Matrox cards now work with Blender
The Nvidia driver problem is fixed (new drivers didn't work anymore)
Compatibility is confirmed with all 3D (consumer) card manufacturers and card types of recent products (last 2 years).
Old cards like Voodoo2 and Matrox G200 do not work.
ATI's and Geforces work best.

New Features
Action Blending available in Action actuator it allows for a blending variable describing how many frames the blending should take place. Excellent stuff for smooth moving characters.
Python support for Action Actuator in the 3D engine.
Priority control in Action Actuator: you can set a priority number that indicates the Action to be actually done when multiple Actions are set at the same time.
New actions always have a fake user by default (prevents actions disappearing from files without warning)
Dramatic speed increase for usage of Actions in the 3D engine.

Bug fixes
The entire list of bug and feature fixes contain about 80 reports. Useful to know are the following:

Creator:
CTRL+T (Make Track) enabled again.
Spotlights set to "OnlyShadow" casted a dark ellipse in the entire cone of the spotlight, so they darkened areas where there is no shadow.
Image used as background image for 3D window could not be deleted
During UV editing, the infobar displayed wrong coordinates
'OpenGL' draw mode (Z) sometimes had wrong lighting after using 'Texture' drawmode.
Lighting preview incorrect in potato mode on Linux/GeForce2
OpenGL specularity in potato mode was always full-strength (did not respect material settings)
The redish color was back in ImageWindow (IRIX)
Tool tips timer worked inconsistent, causing flashing
Buttons in Blender that delete something couldn't be cancelled by moving away the mouse while holding the left-mouse button.
deleting a text block caused crash when switching to another screen with text window
Blender crashed when it can not find library
Touching the Pack Button in ImageWindow crashed Blender
settings in 'Game' menu were not saved
CTRL+F to sort faces in Z did not resort texture faces
Blender had a memoryleak when metaballs are used

3D engine:
Using Linear Velocity now also handles collisions and physics. The Linear Velocity is kept separate from motion as a result from collisions and physics.
Overlay Scenes now have its own World settings
'Force' option back in the Ipo Actuator
'Slow parent' did not work in engine
'Remove scene' in Scene actuator stopped looped sounds
8 bit sound is played back correctly
sound got screwed with multiple scenes and diff camera positions
Random Actuator on IRIX not showing the third line and crashing
SetCamera python call for SceneActuator did not work
mouseover sensor did not work
ObColor-A (alpha) Ipo did work on 'text' face
ObColor was not working at Irix at all
ObColor did not work with 'Text' faces
Radar Sensor was not working at all
Restart Scene Actuator crashed
Enter key in keyboard sensor gave no response

Is that it?
Well, it might seem tools development in Blender has been abandoned, in favor of 3D engine stuff and the Plug-in / Publisher release. We also realize a lot of development doesn't always show up visible for the user. Internally, the focus for the next months is to continue on stabilizing the current releases, solving inconsistencies, repair half working features, and improve overall Blender quality. Adding new tools are also on the agenda, especially related to Mesh editing and Python (import/export). And of course the long awaited Mac OSX version should see its daylight!

The recent discussions on the forums about Blender's future have been read with a lot of interest. We certainly do not want to alienate non 3D-engine users from us. I expect you all to understand that the current priority for NaN is working on projects that lead to revenues. Even for Blender Publisher, good and reliable tools are essential. All work we spend on that will be available in the Creator as free download as well. We choose to keep Blender Creator for free, out of respect for the past and the amazing world-wide user community that grew out of the freeware strategy. But free software has its price too, for us! :-)

Sounds like they are getting some nice features in it now.
