3 days of carnage to follow?

'Your dad was.. obviously your father'
that's what the new reporter just said to a victim, who lost his father
genious reporting.

The flights that were Highjacked were from United and AA, they were numbered as follows:
11, 93, 175, and 77

11 = Today's Date
9+3 = 12 = Tomorrow
1+7+5 = 13 = Thursday
7+7 = 14 = Friday

what you say?

Ah, so you've heard that rumour as well? All I can say is I really hope not.

the element of suprise is gone.... the US has tightened it's collective spincter so tight they wont shit for weeks... I doubt we will see much else from anyone terrorist now...

the US is also collectively angry...

if someone so much as sneezes like a terrorist/muslim/person of ill repute... they will be filled with copper coated lead

I just sincerly hope that ignorant fools do not retaliate against the general muslim community.

Muslims in general are a very peaceful people. There are very few people who are the fanatics that cause this terrorism. Those fanatics do not truly follow Islam. Islam is in all honesty one of the most tolerant religions on Earth.

I honestly don't think people are going to blame Islam as a whole... The period of horrified shock, has passed. If there were to be actions against the Islamic comunity, I really think it would have happened by now. And it hasn't. Instead I think the people of this country seethe with rage, but rage that they are saving to direct at the person or people's who are responcible for this.

Warble, I think it goes without saying that now is not the time for sarcastic humor.

I don't think there will be any more attacks... can't rule it out, of course, but my personal opinion is that it's over, for now.

I recent pole suggests that about 3/4 of the population want retaliation, but only when we are absolutely sure who is responsible. TV coverage is underlining that the government, as well as the average citizen, wants to be levelheaded about this. There is a lot of talk affirming that we do not want to make any generalizations about anyone. We simply want the people responsible for this barbaric act to be neutralized. Unfortunately there are bigots everywhere, though fortunately they are in the minority. Nevertheless there will probably be some hate crimes committed by these few, twisted individuals. I fear this.

Well, it is the second day and no carnage. So that's good.

Randy: I think the bulk of the western world wants retaliation. I know I do. This wasn't just attack on America, it was an attack on western civilisation.

Everyone I have talked with first wanted complete and utter destruction. Just blind firing, carpet bombing. Now that people have calmed down a bit, reasoning has kicked in. Most I spoke to today wanted to have a precision strike.

CNN Poll this morning was actually much higher. 96% want "Decisive military retaliation" against the terrorist and the nation harbouring them.

    I'm hardlined in that percentage.

Bay Area poll on KGO was a little lower, but still high at 90%.

Letting them get away with an act like this is no better than validating terror as a weapon.

I'm of the opinion that Cruise missles work only on targets that can't move. Retalliation must be decisive, and devistating. This is beyond the level of what was done to Pearl Harbor...both in number and by the type of targets struck...this is an attack on a Civilian population. Open, deliberate, planed, and utterly cowardly.

When they find out who and where these people are, I'm sure we'll all see exactly why even Arafat and Quidaffi are distancing themselves as much as possible from these amoral factions.

Terrorism is ugly, and this will probably get uglier before not...

I am in absolute agreement with Rick. I want to be sure who was behind this atrocity. Once we are sure, those indviduals or groups, and any government helping them should be removed from the face of the planet!

The upcoming war against terrorism will be bloody, and have high losses on both sides. These coming years will not be easy on anyone.
  • Agreed, the ecconomy and us all will be affected by this, its really hit home "how civilized are we really"
  • BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
I think that the best option is not to strike by cruise missiles. You need to actually go in there and get the people, to be sure. I don't even live in the US, and I want retribution.

    Well...

Being that so far 100 British, 100 Japanese, and 75 Australian vistors are unaccounted for, and 3 known dead Australians. I'd say that America won't be the only one negotiating justice on those responsible.

I agree with Biggles. I have been thinking about this a lot. A cruise missle landing on a remote tent will not convey the message that needs to be conveyed. The only response to this type of atrocity is to show up in full force on the border of whichever country is harboring the terrorists and demand their turnover. If the country refuses, we march in and take them.

NATO has declared that this was an article V attack, meaning that the terrorists now have every NATO country after them.

This is the time for the WORLD to say "No more...we draw the line here." As an American, I want to see this resolved by Americans, but I know that this is bigger than the US alone.

Oh this is far bigger than America alone. It is really good to see NATO pulling in beside America. Dozens of countries have pledged support themselves as well, from European countries all the way to Pakistan.

Jack: So far we (ie NZ) know of at least one Kiwi dead. He was on one of the planes that hit the towers.

This is even bigger then NATO. This is an attack against the people of a village we call Earth. To hell with the lines on a map. To hell with our alliances. We are all human, lets just think that way.
