What would you give for space travel?

Theoretical question: would you be willing to sell everything you have and leave everyone you know (with exception of your spouse and children) to move to an orbitting platform or lunar colony?

I imagine all our young 'uns will say "Sure!", but what about the older folks with cars, houses, and families?

    What exactly do you mean?

I would never leave permanently everything behind, but I could definitely move up there for some period of time and with a possibility to visit Earth "whenever" I want. With whenever I mean to have a possibility to fly on Earth and back like at least every month or so.

    IN A STONE COLD HEARTBEAT!!!

My dream is to get into space, I don't care if they bring me back, just let me go!

Hell It would be so great for just once in all these years not to be vertically challenged!

of course yes, but i dont think they would be too keen to build stations with enough head room for my 6'5" frame.

    :-p

I would look at the deal carefully and, barring anything dodgy, take it.

LOL.... Biggles.... ever the cautious one....

I'd love to be building rammed Earth (perhaps that should be 'rammed moon/mars' ), dwellings on either Mars or the Moon... I can't forsee we'll get anywhere else in my lifetime atleast unless science has a massive leap in the very near future...

in my case.... the only way I'd come back is just like the poor souls in the Columbia.... I'd be prefferably quite ancient and quite dead when it happens...

I'd love my corporeal remains to become a shooting star over South Australia...

Earlier on when I was younger I would have, but now that I am married and own a home, etc, I'd have to have a drastic change in my life (like the loss of my spouse) to get back into that frame of mind.

I am content for now to sit back and enjoy other peoples successes in those areas. Now, if it were a trip for a few weeks to the moon, and I stayed at the Luna Hilton, yeah that is doable in my opinion...

I was born here, and I would like to die here. But I think I could go for it :-)

I'd do it for the chance to explore Mars.

Sounds like a question Mr. Morden would ask..

Definately...I'd be up on a station as soon as they could take me!

In asking the question, I'm thinking of the American pioneers who intentionally took all their belongings that would could fit on a covered wagon and left the everything else for a life with no guarantees.

I'm not sure, at least in most first world countries, that we would be willing to do the same.

Like most of you, I, too, would be willing to give a considerable amount to visit an orbitting Omni or lunar Hyatt, but I don't think I would be willing to be the person responsible for setting up the infrastructure required to create such places.

I use to think that I had the makeup to go to the moon and live out my life in a 3x4 meter can, fighting for daily survival, hoping to create something better for another generation. With a family now, I don't think I could do that, or put my family in that situation.

For the chance to really see whats out there!

If they told me here a ship, enough food and fuel {some alternate kind} to last more than a lifetime gos fast enough to get you around quickly with one draw back.

You can never come back! Do you still want to go?

Definitly, where do I put my shit lets get going I'am not getting any younger here!
