If people would learn to calculate all of that by hand, they'd appreciate both packages that much more. Actually, it isn't TOO bad, if you're used to the work and familiar with the concepts. I decided to take a confidence builder course at a local state college, and the Structural Analysis class was centered a bridge-building contest, in which teams of students (my teammate flaked out and didn't do any of her work) had to build the lightest bridge per pound of load carried before failure and predict the member that would fail, along with the load that would cause failure...all using only the materials given to us (1/8" and 1/4"x1/8" square and rectangular lengths of bass wood) and perform the calculations both by hand and using a structural analysis software package. That was fun, and an easy course for a few of us in the class.
