Bruce Boxleitner to appear in Gods and Generals...

He's going to play as Gen. Longstreet. Check it out: http://us.imdb.com/Title?0279111

I haven't read the book "Gods and Generals" yet but I did read "The Killer Angels" and "The Last Full Measure." Both were excellent and hopefully Gods and Generals will do a little more justice to the book than Gettysburg did to The Killer Angels.

I saw the trailer for that, it definately looks like a good one to see, but I didn't know Bruce Boxleitner was going to be in it.... all the more reason to see it!

Damn cool! I loved the Killer Angels. Excellent book (went by to damn fast, I wanted more damnit! ). Excellent book. Perhaps one of the top ten history books IMHO. If only for the fact that it brings history to heart and is easy to read. Read it!! Now I have to buy the book Gods and Generals.

For your info- Bruce plays Longstreet (a great General). One of my favorites.
  • you didnt know about the others?! its a trilogy. Micheal shaara only wrote killer angels. jeff shaara, his song, wrote the others. forget the name of the last one.. keep thinking passing of the armies, but thats the one by chamberlain himself.. but i've been waiting for this for year...

The last book is called "The Last Full Measure." It was my favorite. If you like Civil War books, I would also reccomend "Soul of the Lion." It's a biography of Chamberlain.

Chamberlain by far is one of the most interesting people to read about... Definately would recommend "In the Hands of Providence" (I think it's the name) if you're interested in him....

Is Chamberlain in "Gods and Generals"? Haven't read the book myself...
  • yeah he was the xo with the 20th maine.

jeff shaara is his son, not brother
