• So what's the solution for distribution that will not sacrifice the current standard of living?

Just tell me this isn't another: we'll start off with socialism, then move to a communal system and wait for the government with whither away idea?

I'm still waiting. I stand by my statement that while some people get held back, in the long run money is the best form a distribution that doesn't put my fate in the hands of tyrants.

PJH, rember Ho chi Min? alot of good ideas, wanted to do what was best for his people..

In the end he destroyed them, hell look at what the government of Vietnam did even once the Americans and French were out of the picture.. Genocide of ethinic groups and a Vietnamese diaspora

The belief that you have the truth makes you a dogmatist, and the idea that if you had the power you could fix things.. well thats the origins of the word Tyrant, it used to be viewed as a positive thing you know?

Tyvar, I'm not Ho Chi Min. So aren't 6 billion other people on this planet either.

That only proves that he didn't honestly want the good for his people afterall.

    Wrong.

A person who wants only good for people and doesn't abuse his power can't be a tyrant.

Besides, who has said anything about having that kind of power anyway? I only said power to actually do something.

I had a friend who use to tell a story about her five-year old niece who was learning to share. Her parents continued to reinforce the idea that sharing is the loving thing to do. One day, she walked over to a litle boy who had a toy she wanted and said "To love is to share. Give it to me."

There is not a government system that has been devised or can be devised that will create the system your asking about, Konrad. Governments don't have morals or responsibilities; individuals do. Only individuals can share; only individuals can decide to sacrifice their own things; only individuals, you and me, can decide that someone else's well being is more important than my short term gratification.

Motivation cannot be mandated by government policy. Without motivation, there is only coercion.

Its been said that an individual can't make a difference. I argue that only an individual can make a difference.

  • I don't disagree, my point was just about money and how I don't see how it gets in the way of that ideal. There are philanthropic die hard capitalists after all - perhaps not enough -but that's a mater of some members of humanity not the monetary system.
