Does the New Homeland Security Law sound and feel a lot like the Homegaurd on B-5 or is it just my imagination.

Report suspicious behavior, easy access to wire and phone taps, single out certain people for watching.

And who watches the watchers?

It's good to see more people realizing this. I wonder if the Night Watch legislation had as much pork barrel payback as the Homeland Security and Pork bill does?

It seems hard to picture Gore in the same context as any conception of 'popular'...

There were more illegally counted Bush votes in Florida than the margin of victory, so Gore should have won the Electoral votes, too.

Florida, depsite Jebby's and Katherine Harris's promises to fix it, kept the same voter exclusion list they used to disenfranchise black voters two years ago. Thye knew it was illegal then, they know it now. But since they're the ones in charge of it, guess what?

Gotta love it when the person counting the votes is the campaign manager for one of the candidates, eh?

I'll touch it. =) Initially, it was thought that Gore should have won Florida. However, several months later, it was finally put to rest that Bush won by a few votes (not many though). A lot of missing ballots were found, incorrectly counted, etc. etc.

On the note regarding the popular vote...that vote count is right, however, flawed in several ways.

All the major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN) incorrectly reported several times that Gore had won states where only a small fraction of the votes were in. They later came back and quietly corrected it later in their broadcast. They basically came out and said that Gore had won the race and that it was no use to keep voting for Bush. This was in the evening where much of the West Coast was still voting (late afternoon for them while reporting was on). Therefore, a LOT of voters who would have voted didn't because they thought their candidate couldn't win (especially true in California).

The anchors were heavily biased against Bush and dogged him every chance they got. There were numerous stories about this in newspapers across the country after voting day.

surprisingly enough that was never broadcast. how fair and objective of those reporters!

    Wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

I see there are still lots of people that read only the first few lines of articles, if even that much.

The actual results were as follows:

Legal wrangling and partial recounts: Bush wins.

Count all the votes: Gore wins.

Go back and read the articles again.

Hello. Obviously, I (and a lot of others)cannot have a conversation about politics on here because everytime I (and others) post, you immediately contradict me (and them) on everything and don't even provide any evidence. It almost seems you're trolling.

Now, I have nothing against you at all. However, please remain fair and objective to everyone.

I just don't want to see these threads turn for the worse. Appreciate it. =)

Boy, Google is great for all sorts of things. Look at the link that comes up under "final florida presidential count". The subreport titled Vote count ends quietly" from the Orlando Sentinal article concludes that Bush would have won, with or without the Supreme court intervention.
