I was thinking about possibly heading to California, and was wondering if anyone here is from there? I'd probably be in the Salinas Valley area, but can wander around in the state abit.

I also lived in Seaside (right next to Monterey) for about 2 years. And let me tell you, Monterey is NICE. It's a little more expensive to live there, but it's right on the coast, the weather is nice, etc.
Unfortunately I live in a certain french-speaking canadian province that shall go unnamed for fear of people's eyes bleeding from the sight of the name.

Northern CA, or Southern CA? They're two almost completely different places.

Southern, Northern coastal, and Northern eastern.
Actually, CA has THREE areas:
Southern, Northern coastal, and Northern eastern.
Yeah just like you all to forget the fourth California area (Central Valley). Hey I know it's not much to think about, but...

Born in the Fort Ord hospital in 1970 (back when Fort Ord was still very much an active facility), spent the first five years of my life in Seaside, a couple of years in Pacific Grove (back when both the cost of living there and the population density were a helluva lot lower) and then spent the rest of my childhood and high school years in Merced County (JackN: I've been in Oakhurst, quit yer bitchin, ya loon! I was also stationed in the San Francisco area during my active duty time in the Navy (a little over a year of school at Mare Island and over four years on the USS Carl Vinson, which was homeported at NAS Alameda. (I also went to boot camp in San Diego. Man, there's nothing like having beserker SEALS and "River Rats" scream at you all day and drop you to do 50 push-ups when you least expect it...
