Good news, personally I think that this is the route we should take in getting rid of Saddamm.

Good to see W learned from his father.

[quote]The administration now expects the compromise to be accepted by France and Russia, a move that is then expected to bring along China, which has been less vocal on the disputed issues. I'm not sure I completely agree with this step. While I am not completely convinced that anything needs to be done about Iraq at this time, I feel that a resolution from the security council that only states that there will be "consequences" is weak and counterproductive.

If a resolution is to be passed it needs to be well defined and very specific. It needs to state exactly what the requirements are Iraq is to meet (i.e. complete unfettered access to all sites in Iraq) by exactly what date those requirements are to be met and specifically what the consequences are if Saddam does not comply (i.e. removal from power). This way there is no question as to the nature of the resolution and its outcome.

As I said before, I have not made up my mind as to whether the US and the UN should be dealing with this issue at this time, but if we are, it needs to be explicitly laid out to the world how these actions will take place.

One of the problems with UN resolutions is that they rarely provide consequences and I feel that in and of itself causes the needless death of many, many humans each year.
