What PDA do you all have?

What PDAs do you guys use? Just curiosity, I'm not taking a survey or anything. Myself, I have a Sharp Mobilon 4600 on the way. Used to use a Psion Revo Plus. It worked great, but it also taught me to fear the words non-user-servicable (mainly, the batteries).

I've got a Palm IIIc that was given to me, I used to have a NEC Palmtop running WinCE when they first came out, had a full keyboard and a touchscreen, kinda like the high end Journada, which i MUCH prefer to the Palm style of PDA, but one can't argue with a free unit.

  • I know what you mean. The keyboard on the outdated mobilon (which I picked up for $102.50) was what made me get it rather than a newer yet just-as-cheap touchscreen-only PDA.

  • Wow, there are three of us: No Pager, No Cell Phone, and No PDA either.

Yes, answering machines work, people can wait to hear from me, and paper and pen don't require batteries.

When people are on cell phones in public places and talking loud enough for all to hear I love joining the conversation since clearly they are talking to me, right? I'm also just waiting to get in a wreck with a person on a phone or working some other electronic device; mark my works I'll make them eat it.

But, if someone handed you a Free palm, would you turn it down?

  • Palm IIIxe here....
  • The safety factor alone of a cel phone makes them worthwhile..you can easily call for help if you have trouble. Some people are rude and irresponsible with them to be sure, but I hate not having mine on me..and if people need to get ahold of me because of a change in plans, they can.

I currently have a Toshiba e300. It's a 32mb ram/rom with 206mhz strongARM running PocketPC 2002. I used to have a sony Clie-but I gave it to my dad when I got this one. IMO, if you are a windows user, the PocketPCs are a better overall than palms. The handwriting recognition mode is really cool..just write the word or words on the screen, and poof they are text. It's a hair under 1/2 inch think, which is as thin as a Palm V, and they have a great price. I also have a 64mb SD card in it, which is currenly mostly devoted to a couple of programs (including this really fun 3d space game), and my 20+ book library.

I will admit that I had a Palm m100 for about 6 months this year. I had it because I was using it in a project. I never used it except when testing my program on the hardware.

I have an orginal Newton, the forefather of all that was to follow...I don't use it cos I lost the battery frame, (a really stupid cage thing that takes the pitifully tiny AAA batteries she runs on. So she's a tethered piece of cool technological history.

I hope Jobs has the good sense and the lack of prideful ego that might prevent him from returning to PDA land...

In one fell swoop he could carve off a huge chunk of the PDA market which is morally Mac's to own anyways. My guess is the iPod will be a sideways way back into where Mac rightfully belongs.
